She's a sharp cookie. But so is the killer!

When an auction of family treasures leads to murder, amateur sleuth Deena Sharpe sets out to catch the culprit. A missing coin collection could be the key to the puzzle.

While Deena babysits the thrift shop for her friend who is out on maternity leave, strange things start happening. Her sister-in-law Estelle thinks they are messages from beyond the grave that point to the killer. Can they separate truth from fiction before someone else gets hurt?

Stay Sharpe includes books six through eight of the Maycroft Mysteries by USA Today best-selling author Lisa B. Thomas. Follow Deena as she faces the challenges and rewards of trying to make the most of the second big chapter in her life. Great for teachers!

I highly recommend this book for former teachers or those considering their next career move. Deena Sharpe shows us that life is about taking the bull by the horns and embracing the unexpected and growing from it!

Fun Mystery Series

I enjoyed listening to this fun lighthearted at times funny mystery, Deena is a retire teacher and investigator and main character. Book 6 Deena is trying to solve the murder of her sister in law’s chauffeur and finding coins. Book 7 Deena is offered job as crime reporter and trying to solve the murder of one of Gary’s client (accountant and her husband) Andrew Granger who was classified as suicide. There are some twists and turns as 2 women claim to be his sister trying to claim the fortune. Gary is going thru a crisis wanting to change his job due to boredom. Book 8 Deena is crime reporter and trying to solve the murder of Rocky B who was mistaken for her neighbor Edwin Cooper (an elderly cranky man), there are some twists and turns especially when he really dies and has wills for his granddaughter and friend. Gary has opened his new business and Deena quits her job and await next book. Narrator does great with the characters and recommend to anyone who enjoys a fun, easy mystery with twists and older women, recommend you listen to entire series. I was this free review copy audiobook by Storyteller and have voluntarily left this review. Thank you

Deena Sharpe is unstoppable...:)

I have already listened to all the books in the box set and have to tell you - if you don't know Deena Sharpe yet don't wait, grab the set, it's a treat for every fun of cozy mysteries...:)
And here's what I first wrote about the books (my full reviews can be found on their individual sites:)):

Book 6 - Sharpe Cookie - Deena Sharpe comes back in yet another fun, fast-paced cozy mystery and the book is as entertaining as the previous installments:) This time Deena is accompanied by her sister-in-law Estella who believes she receives some messages from beyond the grave, which results in some funny turns in their investigation. As always, Deena finds a lot of clues and as many suspects, and she gets into trouble more than once - you'll really laugh at some of her predicaments:) The plot is very fast, with witty dialogues and a bunch of colourful secondary characters. Ms Thomas definitely knows how to people her books with individuals you won't forget, be they good guys or villains. She also knows how to create plots that will keep you glued to the pages/audio device - you really don't want to stop listening to what else Deena has up her sleeves:)

Book 7 - Sharpe Note - Deena never slows down, even when she loses the job she loves and tries to get to grips with her new old one:) Which of her two sides will prevail this time: investigator or journalist? As always with Deena, you don't know where her inquisitive, curious mind will take her, how she will interprete the pieces of information she gathers here and there, and what impact meetings with new people will have on her (and vice versa:)); all we know is that it's going to be fun, relaxing and definitely entertaining. The plot, as in all the previous books, is fast paced, the humour a bit crazy, and the new characters either amiable or repelling:) And as endings go, this one is a good one, with the solution to the crime logically following the clues and a bit of a tease for the next book in the series:)

Book 8 - Sharpe Wit - I've come back to Maycroft after quite a break to follow another of Deena Sharpe's adventures - and it felt like coming home:) As always, the book is fast-paced, with an intriguing mystery to be solved, with lots of twists and turns and all the possible red herrings you can imagine (and even some you can't:)) and characters that are as colourful as you wish for in a good cozy mystery. Deena follows her gut feeling even when there seemingly is nothing to follow, and she ususally turns out to be right without sounding conceited or self-assured; she's her old warmhearted , friendly self, ready to help everyone around but at the same time persistently looking for truth... Generally, a great addition to the series.

Throughout the whole series Ms Hazen does a great job narrating the stories. The pace of her reading is just about right; the characters come to life with her voice, their emotions ring true and personalities shine. It's a very well done job:)

A Great Listen

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the narrator and found it very entertaining. What can an out of work school teacher do to keep herself busy...Well Deena Sharpe has no problems finding mysteries to solve. Life is never dull for Deena Sharpe, a retired school teacher turned investigator and/or journalist. Deena, no matter what title she has, she is always in the middle of trouble. Through a series of misadventures Deena always solves the mystery. The suspense and humour never stop in this delightful tale set in small town Texas. A great series.
