Second Verse, Better than the First

I never thought following the life of an Ogre would be so much damn fun. Even though this book is shorter than the first, Sean Oswald packs a HUGE punch in the second book of the series! The side characters and plot development are top-notch, wasting no time making you get invested in the interactions between Frank and his friends (but are they?). The stat sheet readouts that ate up significant read-back time in the first book are significantly reduced in this book only really happening when it's a significant milestone in Frank's progression. If you listen carefully, you'll catch several nods/references to other books/works in the LitRPG genre, which only adds to the fun of the story. There's no doubt that the next book in the series will be just as fun!

Again, as with book one, Daniel Wisniewski does a phenomenal job of narrating the story, bringing the emotion and characters to life with a fantastic performance. These kinds of talented narrators make Audiobooks that much more entertaining than just sitting down with a paperback book.

The only thing you'll be disappointed with is if you listen to this book before the third installment is out, and end up in my shoes, having to wait for it!

Fun even if it seemed short with less substance than the last book.

not exactly sure what it was, but this good seems less exciting than the first. I feel like so many things happen in the first book and even though the MC goes through some cool moments, feel like things were a little jumbled up. maybe I don't know it just didn't seem as cohesive. still, I did enjoy it and the performance was very well done like in the first book.

Freaking outstanding!

Loved every bit of this book from beginning to end and cannot wait to read the next one. Sean Oswald has yet to put out a story that I haven’t loved. Don’t hesitate just buy this. It is worth it.

Spirit song review for 1&2

I’ve enjoyed both books here on audible very much. Hopefully the third one will be just as good and I believe the plot is blooming and has me optimistic for the next book to be even better.
First I’ll point out the 5 star rating system is insufficient on fully rating books but I still believe to give all books I like no less then 3 stars though if you were putting you top 3 books in the same group and were asked to rate them all with the same stare scale well I feel most books I enjoy would lucky to get a 2 star and I think we all would probably agree on that. With that said I don’t think it would be fair to the author or us to give any book it’s rating by using there most favorite as a comparison. I mean it’s enough that my favorite books will always serve as a foundation of sorts cause there the ones that stay with you and stir up passion with in you and your able to make a series of deep connections based on one’s interest at that moment in there life or even changing mood especially if you gobble up books as much as I do
To move on let me be frank and say even though this series isn’t something I’d consider special I would like to say it’s very enjoyable litrpg so far. Better then many others that I also enjoyed. I mean I never thought I’d enjoy a main character with axe man class on The First Défier and love those. Now this isn’t that good. Though much more interesting then I’d have thought with mc being an oger. Prolly wouldn’t have grabbed if it didn’t add the shaman part to it and already went through my main list. I’m glad I did though. It’s been pretty decent with the stats and the points being placed and showing a difference. Been little better with the spells as well as starting to add its own personal touch to the ability’s and system as a whole. It’s still unfolding though cause much is so woven into the plot potential wise that the Mc uncovers as the plot unfolds as well as some that possibly the mc uncovers himself. So good character action and growth and really great plot or storyline and world building as it were.

Ps in the future I’m going to try and go back through my 400+ books to leave some reviews. Much shorter though. I have meant to for a while since when I’ve been undecided and I’d read reviews but many times there short and say it was great or not which I may do cause even if that in its self isn’t helpful just clicking on the person it will bring up all the books they have reviewed. Which I haven’t even put up my favorite audible books up but I have still liked some allot. Regardless you can usually find it worth comparing especially with most litrpgs since they standout if you have an interest. I dont know sometimes people have given a book a poor rating and look through there reviews and when I see freaking awesome rpg books with poor rating then I don’t put as much stake on what the persons says about a book I’m debating on. That all said I prolly shoulda said the narrator did great job hence the stars. Also this is book is for all ages which isn’t to say as a negative. I listened to we hunt monsters before this one and it was in in my wish for a while almost left behind cause I passed it do to some reviews putting it as a ya and even though I agree it’s an any age book there’s a difference to saying ya rather then all ages. I’ll enjoy any book worth enjoying weather there’s sex or just talking shit. Pun intended no but the kill monster’s book says something like whole poop on a stick. Which I’ve actually said befor when I was around my gfs family and got hit for swearing and reverted to that so it amused me. Point though is despite it being free of all that it would’ve been a shame to have missed that book which I do rate as even better then this series. But now I feel like an ass. Bah it’s just more context to help others make a decision. Woa sorry for long.. cheers

Things get curiouser and curiouser

With book 2 the author takes this story to the next level. Book 1 involved a initial plot with the MC being on future Earth before being rudely perm'd to an NPC level in an another realm with his interface being a low-level AI to the AI overlord. Book 2 expands the width and depth of the story to include sub-plots back on Earth, internal manipulation within the diabolical AI's realm to other entities in another realm, each of them vying to take control of the AI overlord, the AI's realm and Earth itself and all of them are attempting to accomplish this by attempts to gain control over the MC.

The author continues to include too much stats bloat into the novel which, reluctantly, had me deduct one star from another, otherwise, 5-by-5 rating.

Daniel Wisniewski's performance is still amazing and now also puts him on my BOLO in other series.
