Full disclosure: Aethon gifted me a credit for this 3 book series and this is an honest review.

The story of a weak person striving to improve themselves is a classic rags to riches story. But in this case think kobolds to dragons.I

Great characters and excellent world building while slowly evolving the MC grab your attention from the start and it pays off.

I also enjoy the narrator, Neil Hellegers from the Good/Bad guy series. 3 books for the price of 1? Heck ya!

Kobolds are at the bottom of the food chain eating whatever they can catch and just barely getting by. But one little kobold, Sam, who has a vision of more for his people and won’t stop until he gets it with or without help. After doing some very dangerous things the town magus decides to help and teach Sam some magic so he won’t kill himself, but Sam doesn’t stop there he reads all her books, teaches himself a lot and what happens through this series is nothing if not surprising.
This is a wonderful audio on how a David became a Goliath, and not settling for the status quo but bucking the system and gaining what you deserve. The narrator Neil Hellegers brings this story to life it is wonderful to feel as though you are there with Sam and his friends.

Do you want to keep hearing second grade science? Then this is for you. Do you like so much rambling that you just zone out and this becomes just noise? Then this is for you. Do you want lvl up growth that’s just pointless? Then this is for you. The only redeeming quality this has is that it’s an omnibus. I regret ever spending a credit on this rubbish
