About this listen

Ninetysomething Mama Laverne is determined to find all of her great-grandchildren their perfect match before going home to glory. So far, her success rate is 100 percent—and she intends to keep it that way.

After sustaining injuries in Iraq, Chancellor Madaris was told he’d never walk again. Chance credits his great-grandmother Mama Laverne with giving him the will to heal and prove the doctors wrong. He has a healthy respect for her meddling ways and knows he’ll eventually end up next on her matchmaking list.

When Zoey Pritchard was eight, she survived a car accident that took the lives of her mother and father, and was sent to live with her great-aunt who refused to speak about her parents. Zoey has no memory from before the crash, but she’s been having the same dream over and over…

Searching for answers, Zoey travels to Houston, where she uncovers a scandal involving her parents and the wealthy and powerful Madaris family. Her trail leads her straight to Chance’s door. The dislike and intense attraction are instant and simultaneous. But to help Zoey restore her memory, he grudgingly introduces her to his great-grandmother…

Was it chance, or Mama Laverne’s plan, that threw this pair together?

Beautiful

I have been waiting for Chance’s story and it was beautiful. I mostly enjoyed the of hearing about the beginning with Mama Laverne, Milton. Waylon and Victoria. This story evoked all kinds if emotions of happiness, sadness, and pissed off. It broke my heart that two individuals so much in love and deserving of a beautiful life together had to suffer because of someone else’s lies, evilness and pride. They deserved so much better.
I’ve always heard of Chance being mentioned in other stories and was thrilled to read his story and glad that Zoe was able to regain her memory.
That Charlotte was a character and managed to keep the hate going on for generations.
I am still puzzled as to why Charlotte’s son attacked Victoria vs Felecia Laverne, I can only assume that was one way to cause Milton pain.
Anyway I truly enjoyed the story. The only reason I gave the story 4 stars is due to the couple not getting their happy ever after life they deserved. Still pissed off at Jansen!!

Loving The Madaris Family!!!

Thank you Ms. Jackson for a gripping and compelling story of one of your grand literary families. I have often wondered about the early Madaris family members and this book did not disappoint in telling their story. Mama Laverne, as usual, brought the truth to every paragraph and person. I laughed, cried and angered over some of the antics of this family. Charlotte should have been "drawn and quartered" but there are even real people like her. Just an absolutely great story and Thanks again Ms. J.

The Doctor and the Rancher

WOW!! The 150th book did not disappoint. Most entertaining and enjoyable. I got addicted and tried to guess what would happen next with the intrigue, mystery, and suspense. The irreparable damage of the lies and hatred but also the longevity of their love was well illustrated. We could all use a Mama Laverne her kindness and wisdom was superb. I really liked her character. Great job Brenda!

I loved learning more about mama Laverne and witnessing Chance’s evolution. Very well written.

This is another Grant slam from Brenda Jackson! We still love the Maderas family and this book gives us more insight into our favorite character mama Laverne. I was hooked from page one and did not want to put this book down.

Love Is a Journey!

Mrs. Jackson did an exceptional job of weaving history into this story. This story reminds us that love is a journey that continues until it reaches its final destination. Along the way, passengers are picked up, either voluntarily or involuntarily, to complete the narrative of life's journey. LAF
