About this listen

Get ready for witches, wolves, magic, and romance - all in Salem!

Raven Bishop doesn't need the help of a man, no matter how hot he is. So when an alluring stranger walks into her magic supply shop, Gemstones, Raven ignores his advice. He might be a police officer, but she knows she can take care of herself.

Sheriff and wolf shifter Zane Cross has one mission: get the Bishop women away from the order of witch hunters. He doesn't have time to deal with his inner wolf howling that they've finally met their mate, especially since the woman in question refuses to follow him to safety. Until she's attacked.

In a secluded cabin, far away from the threat of death, the grumpy sheriff and headstrong witch will have to find common ground in order to survive. Can Raven put her pride aside and let love save the day?

love Milly Taiden didn't like heroine in book

Good story concept, narration was awesome. Just didn't like the female character. she was whiney and unlikable. I felt bad for the male character, she wasn't independent, just very immature and did things that made no sense. Milly Taiden is one of my favorite authors, usually love her female leads, they make me laugh and usually can see lots of growth from beginning to end. This time I was annoyed with the female and questioned why the male lead would put up with her. I was kinda hoping she would get shot, so she could learn and grow up.

nice change for Milly Taiden

(Zane & Raven): It's been a while since I've read something from MT and I have to say, she's come a long way. This book has a lot more depth to it. So we have Zane and Axel, both are wolf shifters, Axel is the pack alpha, and Zane is the town sheriff. They get word from a town kid that his dad and a group of others are planning to kill everyone distantly related to the official Salem witches. Raven and Serene are twin sisters and witches, they are descendants of the bishop witch killed in the 1600s. Upon meeting, Zane's wolf recognizes his mate. Raven is a little annoying at first, never wanting to listen to Zane. But I enjoyed the backstory we got on her. I just wished for a little more on Zane. They have unbelievable chemistry. I loved that this wasn't exactly an insta-romance. They don't just jump right into bed. I was really into the story, I wished there was a little more explanation about why the witch hunters were on the attack but the book was good.

A no for me

I usually love paranormal romance / smut books with werewolves and witches, but the whole thing was flat and even silly! I kept laughing at certain parts! I thought the writer must be joking! Or the writer was a teen and i was reading this teen’s fantasy romance book!

~Smh~

I really like books from Milly Taiden, but I really what to slap some common sense into the female lead.

She is very disrespectful to the Sheriff there to try to warn and save her life. She has an arrogant, ignorant, bossy, obstinate, and stupidly stubborn personally. She is totally all talk. Acting so big and tough because she can perform a few magic spells (barely functional magic, lol) and her bloodline that almost gets them killed twice. (Totally her fault by the way). Where did the all that confidence even come from? Is it because of her ancestry that she thinks she is this big and bad witch that can stop bullets.? Lol. For someone coming out of and toxic relationship to be so clueless and irrational is a wonder. I understand that the mate thing is a strong pull, but no, just no, just hell no. I really feel bad that the male lead was stuck with her as mate.

The Narrator for the female lead is okay but not great, it was hard to follow her, most of time I was wondering if I need to get her a drink of water because she seems to be out of breath all the time. Just felt like it was very dry. No inflection, so stiff, just did not sound natural. Sounded very forced.

It was ok

It was ok. I don’t think I will ever listen to it again. The h was very immature and stubborn. The H was better but this story is definitely lacking.
