About this listen
This atmospheric, dark and spicy romantasy is perfect for fans of feminine rage, strong female friendships, unique magic systems, angsty romance, and ominous mysteries.
For centuries, the people of remote Ballybrine have kept the peace with their gods by sacrificing a Red Maiden to ferry souls from the Mother’s realm of the living, through the Dark Wood, to the Wolf’s realm of the dead. Soon it will be Rowan’s turn.
Ripped from her family as a young girl, Rowan Cleary has been forced into a cloistered life learning to please the wolf and wield her spirit-enchanting voice. Though none of the previous maidens have survived their five-year term, Rowan is determined to beat the odds and protect the women who have become family to her.
When a deathly blight breaks out in the Dark Wood, and the acting maiden is murdered, Rowan vows to strike a new bargain with the god of death to ensure her survival. The Wolf has always been someone to fear—even more so now that the townspeople blame him for the blight—but he’s far from the vengeful death god she expects.
To unravel the mystery, Rowan must seduce the Wolf. Soon, the attraction between them grows into a relentless magical force, threatening to shatter the delicate balance between realms and unleash a darkness eager to swallow their world.
Song of the Dark Wood is a standalone gothic fairy tale fantasy romance that blends a fractured Red Riding Hood retelling with a hint of Hades and Persephone. This coming of rage character-driven romance is perfect for fans of Rachel Gillig's One Dark Window, Rebecca Ross's A River Enchanted, and Hannah Whitten's Foxglove King.

Compiled by intrepid journalist Neve Pride, this archive of recordings spans the months after dragons emerged on earth, chronicling the communities that sprang up amid the destruction, the scientists, military leaders, and experts searching for a defense, and those steadfastly seeking the missing. Neve and her young daughter Bex travel among the wreckage speaking to those left behind and surviving, against all odds. Neve records everything for history, and in the hopes of locating a clue as to where the dragons came from and how one might stop them.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

All shifters are cursed, but me more than anyone. With barely any abilities to speak of, staying two steps ahead of the monster stalking my every move has been nearly impossible. But a freak robbery that goes awry brings my life on the run crashing to a bloody halt. Trina Rockwell here. You know, your favorite TV host from Midwestern Matchmaker? While I've been setting up Midwestern singles for seven years, I've not had any luck finding myself a guy. My last great encounter was a year ago when I bid on a date with billionaire Heath Fox at a charity auction. But then, after a great date and an even better good night kiss, Heath told me he wasn't looking for a relationship. Super. Now that Midwestern Matchmaker has been cancelled, my producer has got it into his head to do a new show where I'm the one who finds love.

Story
I'm not a worldly woman. I'm not cultured, well-traveled, or well educated. I'm just a housewife. A mother. I'm the woman with the handsome husband, beautiful daughter, the large house. If you saw it from the outside, you'd probably think I have the perfect life. You would most definitely be wrong. But I don't blame you. We all see what we want to see, turning a blind eye to what others want to stay hidden. Especially when it comes to love. They say love is blind. But I'm more apt to say it's wretched. Love is what made me stay. But love is also what saved me.

Story
Someone is killing students and we don't know why, much less who. My gut tells me my mother is paw deep in this nightmare, but is she the one pulling the strings or is there a darker force at play? With my besties and the five professors who have sworn to protect me, I'm coming back to a viper's nest of enemies and dark secrets. Until we figure out who the murderer lurking in our midst is, I'll never be safe.

Alluring dark fantasy romance
Loved the feminine rage and taking down of the patriarchy 👏🏽. Such an atmospheric read. The slow burn romance was fantastic and the mysterious plot with gods and goddesses intriguing. And the narrators kept me captivated.

Great female centered story and amazing slow burn
I was invested right away in the characters and absolutely loved the world-building. It has everything: fairy tale re-telling, Celtic mythology, strong female leads, feminine rage, musical magic, witchy nature vibes, and great spicy scenes!

Red Riding Hood x Hades & Persephone
Loved it!
A good mix of dark romantic themes woven into an imaginative retelling of Little Red Riding Hood and Hades & Persephone.
