Publisher's summary

A normal spring morning cascades into a nightmare world for Mera Stevens as 1.8 billion children simultaneously fall ill and then vanish from the face of the earth. Her son, Jeremy, is one of them.

Increased natural disasters, onslaught of disease and other phenomena throws the world into chaos as it balances on the brink of extinction.

With communications down, Mera gathers the courage and strength she needs to trek across a dying country in search of a daughter she desperately hopes is still alive.

While en route to Seattle, Mera is joined by others on a similar mission. Their travels are not easy. Not only do they have to face nature's roadblocks, they must combat the infected who have become their most deadly obstacle. More than just facing the physical and emotional challenges that test their survival, the group faces a journey that will take them much further than just a search for loved ones in a desolate world.

unimaginative.

The characters and situations were so close to the walking dead series that it felt like a rip off of the television show. No imagination an not an original story.

Not Quite The Walking Dead

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I would. It is a book about love, and sacrifice.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Sleepers?

When Mera makes her final choice.

Have you listened to any of B. A. Washington’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, I haven't, but I look forward to more of her narrations. She is amazing.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I had to listen to it in one setting. It was the kind of story that drags you along with it. I couldn't stop

Any additional comments?

I am not into the Zombie Apocalypse thing, I actually think it is quite humorous on the one hand, and gruesome on the other. The concept to me, is far fetched. However given how Science is messing with the engines of creation, who knows. This is a good story, it is a sad story, and uplifting at the same time. It is worth your time, and your tears.

Unique End of the World Story

What did you like best about this story?

The main character Mera reacted the way I think most people would in a disaster scenario, and I enjoyed seeing her character develop throughout the story.

Any additional comments?

There's not a lot of gore, battles with the infected, or underlying love stories compared to other novels. The 'end event' of this book is a mix of natural disasters, mystery illness, and pseudo zombies. The book has a lot of religious undertones, but takes a wacky unexpected turn towards the end, I definitely didn't see it coming.

In the beginning it seemed like the narrator was speaking really fast, but either she slowed down or I got used to it. Overall I really enjoyed the book and look forward to reading the next one.

WTF Ms Druga????

Seriously? What in the world is this book about??? The Rapture? Far from it! The story didn’t make sense. This book was so disappointing I have to say.
