About this listen

Please note this audiobook contains strong language and content that some listeners may find upsetting. Discretion is advised.

As they recount the events surrounding the disappearance of their toddler—one with a tendency to bite—two parents cope with grief in vastly different ways. While the father wrestles with feelings of guilt, the mother is convinced she’s spotted the boy in frightening TV news reports...though let’s just say he looks nothing like the precocious little boy they remember from a decade ago. A heart-pounding, psychological journey of unimaginable proportions thrillingly brought to life by Arian Moayed, Celia Keenan-Bolger, and Stephanie Hsu (as a young doctor in the midst of disaster), James Fritz’s Skyscraper Lullaby is a haunting examination of the ways we cope with tragedy, complicity, and remorse… or the lack thereof.

Playwright James Fritz was awarded a commission through the Audible Emerging Playwrights Fund, an initiative dedicated to developing innovative original plays driven by language and voice. As an Audible-commissioned playwright, he received funding and creative support to develop Skyscraper Lullaby.

Sound design and composition by Max Perryment.

A great allegory for our times

At first, as you’re listening, you might think, as I did that this is a ridiculous, modern-day, fairytale, and who, in heavens name could ever believe any of it. But by the end, you may, as I did, and hopefully the author intended, to recognize it as a statement of the times we are living in. definitely worth a listen. I enjoyed it, and it made me think.

Holy crap now that is horror

It’s actually been a long time since I was actually scared of a horror anything I feel as if a lot of horror is drawn more into comedy than actually making the audience member scared now this terrified me ,the sound design, the acting ,the story, some scary shit.

Such a gripping, addictive listen!

I loved this. It’s somehow a modern fairy tale and super-realistic story about parenting. And the acting was amazing: Arian Moayed (Stewy from Succession!!) and Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once). Can’t recommend enough.

What the heck did I just listen to?

Yikes. Weird. I’m not even sure how someone could have come up with this story. Mushrooms…?

The Parent Trap?

Love that Audible is supporting an emerging writer who's tackling the zeitgeist (end times anxiety, parental neuroses) with a sci-fi spin. Outlandish and suitably over-the-top.

It was so ridiculous, I five starred.

Like the headline says, this story is so far-fetched it is 100% unbelievable. And yet, it was amazing. The cast did a wonderful job at keeping my attention through the entire book. Way to go!
