About this listen

Two years after the empire abandoned them on Avalon, Colonel Edward Stalker and his marines have established the Commonwealth, a union of worlds intended to take the place of the vanished empire. But now contact has been made with a remnant of the empire, a successor state controlled by a ruthless dictator bent on crushing the Commonwealth and expanding her rule over the entire galaxy. While the Commonwealth frantically prepares for war, a small team of marines is dispatched to the enemy homeworld with orders to bring down the dictator - by any means necessary....

One of the Best !!!

This is one of the best Military Sci-fi series Today. The depth of the characters and the weaving together of them with the places that they are at along with the plot, both the short plot and the overall long plot is really great.
As you can see I really do like this series and I believe that anyone else would also. So on to the next one. Good reading.

Very enjoyable book in a very enjoyable series

Would you consider the audio edition of Semper Fi to be better than the print version?

I have become very used to listening to books. Much better for people who drive in traffic or can't sleep well at night.

Who was your favorite character and why?

All the charicters have interesting personalities; however, Jasmine sound like she would be pretty hot!

Have you listened to any of Jeffrey Kafer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Jeffrey does his job well. He has no quirk that detracts from his reading. His smooth read and clear presentation adds to the overall experience. All his reads are consistant in this way.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

N/A

Any additional comments?

I like this book as well as the entire series (so far). Eventhough it is not the military space adventure as Star Force, Lost Fleet, it has a character all its own. I really like the beginning of each chapter where excerpts from "other books" are presented. I found a few negative comments on that subject in other reviews which I don't understand. I think it adds clarity and dimension to each chapter.

I think this book is well written and has provided the entertainment I would expect for the price asked. Well worth the time invested and money spent.

I think Jeffery does an excellent job reading the book. He should be proud showing his audience the professional he is.

If I was to come up with some critical comments, they are the following:

1. I don't get the 18 year old Freighter Captain. I know Mindy is part of the story but I think her role in the book is a bit of a reach.

2. All characters are a bit shallow. I know that some of the characters have been somewhat developed in earlier books but I have been reading about Jasmine in 3 of the 4 books and still don't know much about her. I felt that the main character in book 3 was developed better then Jasmine and Col Stalker.

An excellent follow up

Enjoyed this book in the series, although harsh at times of the realities of power gone wrong good funds a way to prevail.
If you want evil and dark story line go to game of thrones series . Why I read all of them I don't know . Great stories I guess... But not how I like em

The Empire has collapsed

Colonel Stalker and his marines have established a union of worlds known as the common wealth with Avalon and stalkers marines at its core. This entry is well-written with plenty of-action. The author and the narrator are both highly capable and skilled at what they do. if you enjoy military science fiction and or into this saga of the fall of the empire and the Terran marines struggle to restore it. the Marines are the last best hope for humanity before chaos consumes the galaxy from within.

No sugar coating here!

Perhaps not as fast paced as the previous book but a good listen. This book provides the little mysteries along the way but it blatantly shares with the listener the baser side of war. And it does that very well! I heatedly believe that I will celebrate when we have a naive , bumbling sort of hero. Any who call for realism is not listening to the same book as I . The narrator, Jeffrey Kafer, does a good job in his deep voice, calmly reciting the blood letting, just another day In the life of the Marine corp. I would heartedly recommend Semper Fi to all who enjoy a good, down n dirty conflict!ÿ

Good with some exceptions

I wish more of the same characters appeared in the books. I don't feel as interested in the stories without a set of common characters. The author leaves loose ends with some characters.

Ok

Dull for me only because intrigue doesn't play well in this form. I skipped a lot and didn't feel I missed anything.

Great Adventure

Loved it... looking forward to the next book in the series. I've already downloaded it and really can't wait to see what dastardly dead Admiral Ronnie has in store for our Heros.

Awesome military scifi!

Great job developing the story line and personal in a way that you can relate to. Some points in the book I felt like I was in the story sounded by my enemies.
