About this listen
Homeless and jobless, Fenn Todd has nearly run out of hope. All he has left are his longing for horses and the strength of his own two hands. But when he's cheated into accepting a very ugly sackcloth horse, he's catapulted into a world of magic, politics, and desire.
Fenn's invited to stay at the black tower, home of the most terrifying man in the realm: Morgrim, the court sorcerer. Morgrim has a reputation as a scheming villain, but he seems surprisingly charming—and sexy—and Fenn falls hard for him.
However, nothing is as it seems, and everyone at the tower is lying about something. Beset by evil hexes, violent political intrigue, and a horse that eats eiderdowns, Fenn must make the hardest choices of his life.
Can a plain man like Fenn ever find true love with a scheming sorcerer?

It’s really hard to pretend like life is normal when you’re staring a monster in the eyes, though he’s both tempting and irritating in his human form. Some people are born lucky. Then there’s me, destined to be loved by the man who knows my darkest secret. My gift has followed me my entire life—the ability to see the threads of fate. I can see the red thread tying together two people destined to love one another. But my gift has another side to it. A darker side. I can also see a simple black thread tied to the fingers of those who aren’t aware of it, connecting them to the person destined to kill them. And when I look down at my own finger, I can see the red thread stretched over to Bishop King.

Even if he is sexy and supports Samuel on his quest to find the lost Sousa Mage Clan. Utterly beside the point. He does not need a dragon boyfriend. (Un)fortunately, Dimitri disagrees.

Smart men never dabble with demons. I never claimed to be smart, but at least, I’m powerful enough to control them. When I bound Havoc to me nearly 300 years ago, I never realized how difficult he’d make my life, although “accidentally” lighting him on fire every now and then does bring a smile to my face. Havoc is handsome, mysterious, and somehow, my closest companion, even if we don’t always get along.

When no one's willing to hire a pixie of his stature, Phil is forced to find work elsewhere. Turns out, pixies make terrible bouncers.

The Alpha's Warlock: Warlock Nate Hawthorne just wants a cup of coffee. Is that too much to ask? Apparently. Because instead of precious caffeine, all he gets is cursed by werewolves who want to use him for his magic. Captive Mate: Arik is many things. Shaman, necromancer, a little on the snarky side...no one could ever accuse him of being boring. But one thing he never intended to be was imprisoned by angry werewolves. The Alpha Experiment: When a half-werewolf geneticist needs to activate his dormant genes, it's just common sense to get up close and personal with his werewolf bestie.

My new bodyguard is big, brawny, and oh-so straight. Who knew dodging paparazzi would become a full-contact sport between my heart and those strong, protective arms? Can I survive playing a risky duet with a man who’s supposed to protect my body, not steal my heart? I have a tiny panic attack after a big charity gig. In the middle of this meltdown, I crash into Jared, the big, broad-shouldered bodyguard. He’s calm, he’s caring, and he’s got this insanely perfect jawline that could carve marble. Does it awaken feelings I’ve been trying to smash down harder than a whack-a-mole? ...

Story
All vampires suck. Sterling just happens to be very good at it. Vainglorious vampire Sterling is forced to trade his big city hedonism for a trip to a sleepy mountain town, where mangled dead bodies have been discovered. Soon he’s entangled with snooty vampire nobles, territorial werewolves, and a society of law-enforcing sorcerers. The locals aren’t so bad, like the luscious young lady at the fruit shop, or the hunky electrician whose smile sends out sparks. But they’re distractions from the hunt for the mountain murderer.

Fantastic
I loved everything about this story. From the down on your luck, Fenn, but with an attitude of never giving up. To a sorcerer that has lost his magic. I enjoyed that both these ppl are over 40 and have enough world experience to share. The base of the story itself is as old as time, politics, family drama, and the author does a good job keeping it relevant without overwhelming us getting to know the two MC's.
Joel Leslie has done another amazing job with all the voices and kept me entertained throughout

One of my new favorites
This book took a bit to draw me in, but I am SO GLAD I stuck with it. The narration is fantastic. The story is quirky, endearing, a little bit dirty, and a lot of fun. Lee Welch is officially on my “buy everything they publish” list.

Wonderful, original and highly entertaining!
What can I say? I loved this book! It was so well written with wonderful, distinctive characters, great adventure and magic, and on top of it all, was highly whimsical and amusing. This one is a true original. On top of the great writing, the narration is top notch! Excellent listen!

enjoyed it - solid 4 stars
Would I listen to it again: yes
Did the story keep me engaged: yes
Was I invested in the characters: yes
📖 Story comment: Good pace, likeable characters, great world building.
As i'm getting older I find I'm enjoying stories with more mature characters. Having both MC's in their 40's with a lifetime of experiences, world weary and worn thin around the edges was refreshing, especially for a fantasy. The worldbuilding was colourful, well constructed and vivid in details - far from the usual 'bright and shiny' world of magic where everything is perfect, Seducing the Sorcerer was storm clouds and rain, where what you see isn't necessarily what you get - I was absolutely delighted.
🎧 Narrator comment: Joel Leslie doing what he does best, nailed the characters and their personalities and bought the story to life. Overall an enjoyable performance that I will be happy to revisit again.

I need a sequel!
This world was so intriguing, I need a sequel!
Obviously, it's Joel Leslie's wonderful narroration so each character is easy to place in conversation and they are filled with personality & depth but I have to give it up to the author as well.
The magic within this world, it's politics and it's rules leave so much room for growth that I'm hoping for more in the future.
World-building in the beginning was slow but the pay-off was totally worth it, especially with the last few moments of the story.
I was really hoping for an epilogue, the final minute of this book felt like an after credits scene in a movie with the 'dun, dun' drop, screen goes black and you're sitting there already coming up with theories for part 2.
Looking for more from this author.

DNF for now
I might get through it, seems like it might be a good story. I like Joel Leslie in general but don't understand the directorial/artistic choice of the fake accent of the main narration. It's jarring and makes it hard to actually enjoy.

If you don't like horses, this book isn't for you.
I feel like the book title should have had something with the word "horse" in it considering just how much the book has to do with horses. I feel like this is the book you give to someone before you give them a book featuring horse play.

Very Good
When I audio-read from a new author, I never know what to expect, but as you'd imagine, they're mostly middling. This novel is refreshingly sweet and also has depth in characters and plot.
