Publisher's summary

The second crime novel by internationally best-selling writer Eoin Colfer is a gritty and utterly compelling follow-up to the critically acclaimed Plugged.

In Screwed, Colfer adds an entirely new chapter to the adventures and misadventures of Daniel McEvoy, the down-on-his-luck Irish bouncer at a seedy New Jersey bar who, with the help of a motley crew of unlikely characters, solved a bizarre string of murders - including the one of the girl he loved. But people around him continue to die mysteriously, and Daniel is called into action once again. Colfer, beloved by millions for his Artemis Fowl series, has written a riveting and relentlessly paced sequel that is sure to garner international praise.

With wildly inventive imagination and head-spinning plot twists, Screwed is a tour-de-force that rivals Carl Hiaasen at his very best.

A fun, humorous adult ride

Eoin Colfer’s comic wit was on point, as always, and John Keating’s performance was thoroughly enjoyable. Dan’s capability, humor, and heart keep you rooting for him all the way, including ample heartache on his behalf and swells of affection for the way he deals with things. Highly recommend.

Great narration. Inner dialoge wanders

This story is first person POV, and he's an interesting guy with lots of colorful characters in his life. The narrator is great with all the voices. I liked the story, but it went on too long. The inner dialog and flashbacks would make a 5 minute action scene take 30 minutes. I kept waiting for the story to end, but the guy just kept going on... Overall, I enjoyed it. it was different than what I usually listen to, but I won't listen to another on this series.

Enjoyed it way more than I expected

John Keating created a cinematic landscape that flashed a very enjoyable action film.
In my head it was directed by the cohen brothers, but that’s just my inclination.
The book is funny, smart, ironic, tragic and somehow both optimistic AND pessimistic simultaneously.
Enjoy!

lots of belly laughs.

It's a great listen though drags a bit towards the 3 quarter mark. It's definitely a bit ribald with lots of profanity, if you don't get bothered by that it's great fun.

Screwed

I didn’t expect much from this book and I was wrong. I laughed to myself pretty much the whole time. Hopefully he will do more adult books like this.

I want more!

Eoin may be known for young adult books but I honestly think he may be better suited for adult books.

I Listened to both "Plugged" and "Screwed" and was "Glued" to it from beginning to end!

Careful where you listen to it, I Laughed out loud so many times and got a lot of funny looks from folks in the grocery stores!

I really hope he plans to write more!

I enjoyed it and was surprised

It’s a fun journey and I listened to it on my walks. This won’t be the most cerebral mystery out there, but it’s good

Best One Yet

I LOL'd throughout this excellent book. The most enjoyable out of the 50 or so Audible titles I have listened to so far. Performance was top-notch. Can't wait to listen to more of Eoin Colfer's work

Loved this second book!!

I loved book one so much that I could not wait to start book two. With the exception of the ending, I LOVED THIS BOOK.

The amount of screwed that Daniel McEvoy is in is non-stop. He keeps getting deeper and deeper into things, all the while with that Irish cheek that makes his character so special. I loved everything about this listen except the ending. (The aunt's entrance and exit was confusing.)

The narrator is the center of joy for this listen. He's a perfect McEvoy!! I can't tell if there is a book three but I certainly hope so.
