Daniel McEvoy has a problem. Well, really, he has several, but for this Irish ex-pat bouncer at a seedy, small-time casino, the fact that his girlfriend was just murdered in the parking lot is uppermost in his mind. That is until lots of people around him start dying, and not of natural causes. Suddenly, Daniel’s got half the New Jersey mob, dirty cops, and his man-crazy upstairs neighbor after him, and he still doesn't know what's going on. Bullets are flying, everybody's on the take and it all may be more than Daniel’s new hair plugs can handle. And Daniel’s got to find the guy who put in those hair plugs—or at least his body—and fast, or else he'll never get that voice out of his head.
Head-spinning plot twists, breakneck pacing, and some of the best banter this side of Elmore Leonard's Detroit will keep you on the edge of your seat and itching for more.

I think maybe teens would enjoy it (even though written for Adults) because the plot is so improbable that it’s not funny! Unfortunately, after about two hours of listening it became just plain irritating. His imaginative conversations with the ghost of his doctor friend Zeb, who haunts him throughout the story, I found especially annoying.
I wish I could have gotten into the swing of things, but the story line just seemed to irk me. I continually wanted to just give up on finishing the book, but I continued to the end and, unfortunately, the book never improved.
I would stay clear of this one, and save your credit!

I really got hook on Eoin Colfer from his children's series Artemis Fowl. I like his leap into this genre and hope to see more.Great Character for a New Series I Hope!

What did you love best about Plugged?
Artemis Fowl has an irreverent humor that is a lot of fun (for a kid's book). This is a story that gets crazier and crazier. But it is just a lot of fun (for an adult's book). Can't wait to see where Colfer takes it next.Whacky but Fun

If you can get passed the Narrator’s Thick Irish Accent, and his constantly and repeated self monologuing of this internal mental conflicts, then buried inside is a pretty light weight, but good plot story, at least, as much as One can expect from an Action Movie.
The characters are interesting, diverse, and many, but don’t expect to truly get to know any of them, as that isn’t what they’re there for, all of them being window dressing and devices to move the story along. Although you will likely mentally chuckle at certain moments or characters, which I’m certain was the Author’s intention.
The main character is a nice guy, ex-soldier, with an obvious and admitted, “Hero” complex, along with its associated issues. He unwittingly stumbles into a mess of trouble thanks to his association with some rather seedy characters (and so called, “Friends”), and finds himself in constant reaction and survival mode, as he tackles one obstacle and near death experience after another, after the initial body counts are racked up, and he attempts to figure out the “Who Do It”, and keep the wolves on his trail sufficiently away long enough for him to solve all the problems of his and his “friend’s” making.
It’s definitely a strap yourself in for the ride/listen, fast paced, constantly running until the end, type of experience.
I initially didn’t care for it, finding the “ghost” mental prodding, and the heavy accent a bit hard to get passed. It was after the point where I accepted the story for what it was, an over the top fast paced action movie in book form, that I was able to kick back and throughly enjoy the ride.
Hopefully, You can suspend your own expectations, and pretend you are watching a 30 minute Action Movie, because if You do, then hopefully, You too, will throughly Enjoy the ride!
