About this listen

Change is coming to Quest Academy. Can Sal rise to the occasion?

When the second years nearly lose their lives in a failed excursion, it's the first years that pay the price. The curriculum is being radically altered to challenge the students, which means the stakes just got a lot higher.

Salvatore's worst nightmare is taking on a demon, but if he wants to stay at Quest Academy, how will he prove to himself and everyone else that he can succeed? He's going to have to take on an entire floor of a demonic tower before the first semester comes to a close.

That's the least of Sal's problems as he navigates through his first student mission away from the school. Sal is more comfortable at the crafting table, but he needs to survive in a reclaimed zone outside of the academy with the worst team of misfits you could possibly imagine.

It's time to push the limits of Mythcrafting…

Deeply engaging but incredibly frustrating

For people to have such strong and varied opinions on this book the writing is obviously great. I think people have gotten used to the reincarnation fantasy trope where the MC is youthful in appearance but wise, knowledgeable, cunning and incredibly capable (OP). This isn't that.

Sal is an insecure teenager. He is powerful but not very ambitious. He doesn't really even know what he wants in life. He often seems like he's working against his own incredible potential. The way he sees himself is constantly changing and he's a step behind aspiring hero's like Erica because he was so sheltered growing up. His parents are auctioneers for christ sake. He's kind of soft. To him, demons were a horrifying reality that he was never even told about, he only knew that they existed. To compare his capability to the children of hero's who've been essentially trained since birth to be heros is ridiculous. Keep in mind it's only been less than 3 months. He's accomplished a shit-ton.

What's frustrating is Sal can be a push over but it's not because he's a punk he just lacks confidence and overthinks how his actions will be perceived. He's a teenager not a self-assured adult. All things considered this is a great story so far. I'm definitely excited to see Sal overcome his crippling trepidation and be great.

*The books need to span more time than a month per installment though because the wait is too long for such an incremental story*

Loved the book and can’t wait to read book 3! Would like it more if it hadn’t ended on a cliffhanger!!

good book aeries

I found the character development well done. there are flaws w multiple characters which makes them more human with all the flaws that pwople have. the 2nd book makes several new plot branches that can be revisited in later books. I look forward to reading and listening to more of this series.

Excellent series, excellent book!

I have a hard time finding books that are well written and well narrated, but this is one of those. The narration could not be better and the writing is very intelligent, entertaining and action filled without going over the top. I can’t wait until book number three comes out.

Well thought out.

If you’re looking at this book from a realistic standpoint… I would probably go out of my way to give it 5 stars. Only reason I didn’t is because I’m bitter about the ending. Anyone giving this book below 4 stars shouldn’t have been reading in the first place. Obviously you’re missing the entire point of the story so there’s no point explaining.

At best this book is working with TEENAGERS that know the bare minimum of WAR. Yet they have all been told probably sense birth powers they don’t even fully know how to use make you either useless or a hero. Then to put icing on the cake even if you become a weak hero the expectation is for you to just to follow orders and die if need be.

The MC is literally one of the few TEENAGERS literally handing the situation in the best way possible. All of you saying the MC is a pushover must have not actually been listening.

Another great book!

Another great entry to the series I’m a huge fan of crafting novels and this is my number one on that list! I can’t wait to see what the next book entails just so long till the next one!

I love love love this series. it's worth the $$ or the credit. can't wait for the next one. these r the only 2 books by this author so far that I found. hopefully he has a lot more, bc I love his style of writing. and the narrator is awesome! u always know who's speaking. great job all around! keep writing!!!

Excellent character work

Nice to see a progression fantasy that realistically presents the issues a sheltered kid would have facing death for the first time.

Good second book

Keep em coming I want to see where this goes. Good character development though I feel some characters got forgotten about In this volume that I felt was a bit sudden. Not because they were great to read about but just like the author realised they weren't developing well and so chucked them in this volume. It just felt a little off kilter to me when some characters do prevalent in the last volume only appear a couple times in this one and then only as a small part. It's like taking a co main actor in season one and then putting them in two episodes in season two as guest stars. Just a weird way to go about it.

Erica should die!

This is minutes after finishing this audiobook. Story is great and there’s no hole when translation from chapter to chapter which I appreciate. Unpredictable in my opinion which also a plus because the story flows well. Performance of the voice actors were outstanding! so I am mad that it’s over and I have to wait for the next one to be release. I desperately need to know what happen to Erica bc her character have pissed me off! Which is a good sign that the story telling was compelling. I don’t know how many time I’ve cus her out of her cold heartedness that I thought that she would be an outstanding villain bc of her powers and capabilities. In summary the book is great! The voice actors were amazing but Erica needs an Oh Jesus moment to realize she’s nothing!!! Nothing!! I apologize for emotional outbursts I just fished this audiobook. #Ericaisabitch
