On my eighteenth birthday, I got kicked out of my home, mugged in an alley, and killed a guy with my mind ... then things got weird.

I expected aging out of the foster care system to be hard. I wasn't expecting it to include finding out I was a Warlock, destined to be hunted by the most powerful Witch Families so they could bind me to a coven of thirteen witches and spend the rest of my life "harvesting mana". Add to that a set of magical resonants that made me an even bigger target to some of those Witch Families, some of which would rather kill me than let a rival get me.

How's a warlock supposed to stay alive and free? Simple - just go to Witch College, find thirteen witches willing to be bound to you forever in your own coven, and learn enough magic to fend off the most powerful Witch Families in the world.

Easily one of the strongest first entries by an author in the genre. Performance by Lewis and Rozalyn was brilliant as always. HIGHLY recommended, and can't wait for book #2

Incredible first entry

I was so surprised to hear / read a book that maintained a believable story line. Events - feelings that happened were situations picked out of the reader’s beliefs that ‘they would totally relate’. I have to say that this is a work of art.
The story actually a selection error, even so, the best mistake I made in a while.

Best book I have listened to in a long while. With 1100 books in my library this would make top 5 easy. Yes %90 percent of my books are in this genre and yes I have listened to that series too.
Lewis Alexander and Rozelyn Rader did a fantastic job. I only thought of the story never the narrators. With 30 main female characters Rozelyn may have moved to #1 female narrator on my list. Thanks

every once in a while I find myself listening/reading one of these dumb wish fulfillment harem fantasy style novels. and usually regretting it right after.

this was much better than the Normal and honestly if I was rating the story by itself against every book I've read it would probably be only 3.5 - 4 stars. but compared to other similar books it is heads and shoulders above the rest.

Still a little cheesey, but the romance aspect is much better than 90% of other harems and the world building and magic are interesting and consistent.

lastly both narrators did a very good job. I like to listen at 1.4 speed and they were both clear without any annoying accents or sound issues

also the second book is just as good if not better.

definitely recommend if you like this style of book

Excellent story and super interesting world building! It's a solid fictional world with depth and fleshed out likable characters. Miles ahead of most similar titles. Have to go through quite a lot of them to find one this good! VAs are really good too! Just finished this one and gonna buy the next one immediately!

the author does a lot of things right, but the things he does wrong are really wrong.

the MC is constantly horny. he goes to a magic school and doesn't learn a single spell, nor does he learn how to properly control his own powers. he stays with the most powerful witch around for months and she barely teaches him anything, not even preparing him for the school she's getting him into. the mc is not smart. he misses obvious stuff a lot. his best friend is dying next to him and he's busy checking out his 'relative's' chest.

we go from slice of life to random sexual assault and murder. then right back to slice of life. his main LI is firmly a lesbian but somehow is majorly turned on while getting it on with the MC.

an LI is murdered and the mc has to take a truth potion to prove his innocence. even after he does it, his friends and him still go out to 'prove his innocense.'

the mc let's himself get beat up when he could have easily prevented his friend from being sexually assaulted.

my complaints are out of order, but there's so much wrong with it that I have trouble keeping track. oh, and the one spice scene has barely any lines from the girl. hearing only the man's voice for 90% of the spice is just... sigh. there's so much potential here but it's like the author didn't have beta readers to call all this out.

Great story

One of the very best stories I've had the privilege of listening to both a fantastically written story by the author and a wonderful performance by the readers. I am very much looking forward to the next book in the series. hadn't paid attention to the fact there were only two of them out yet and was left with that awesome empty feeling that you get when you're waiting on the next story and your current book has ended. not a comfortable sensation but a really good place for the writer to have left the reader.
