Great narration of great story

Very happy with the narrator. Already loved this urban fantasy series. Can't wait for the next volume.

Good story. Good narration.

Once again, Kai Butler has built some very beautiful scenes in a very engaging fantasy world. The bond between Nick and Parker continues to grow and change. I really enjoy watching their relationship change as they face different challenges in their lives. They are learning how to work together to deal with every fight that comes their way. Their battle in this book is epic because the author just can't end a story with a few cuddly puppies. Okay, there might be one puppy...

The narration was spectacular. Tremblay's performance compliments the chapters spanning battles. I waited until the final audiobook was complete before I started this one because I knew the pentultimate volume would leave me wanting more. I was right so I have already started on the next book.

Uhm Wow!

Well there certainly was not a dull moment with this book.

First of all I freaking love this series. I didn't even wait to see if the book would be whispersync'd. I just bought it immediately.

My only issue is

""""""""spoiler""""""""

there is a dang on cliff hanger.

Just like the rest of the series, this book is very well written. I'm also sure Greg has to know how awesome his narrations are already so I'm not going to go into how much I enjoy everything he narrates. He and some of my other favorite narrators is the reason that I sometimes even give some books a chance. When I see his name as the narrator it's kind of like an automatic buy.

So well done! A great listen and well worth the credit.

I need the next book NOW!

This series just keeps getting better and better. I can hardly wait for the finale, even though it will be sad to leave this incredible world Kai Butler has created. Greg's narration in perfect, as usual. he is truly my favorite performer. He can do so many characters, including believable female voices. The sound editing could be a bit better, sometimes it sounds like the settings are slightly off when there is an edit. I highly recommend this series.

thankfully the end's in sight

Audio: 5⭐️

I've enjoyed the series, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to the end. The writing is still good; Parker is still a compelling MC; and the case that trips Parker and Nick into the bigger picture danger is interesting as well. The clues and connections that move them through most of the book are great. Parker has been forced to start reckoning with many of his choices, and all the characters and elements *outside* the action set pieces work well together.

I think I've just hit series fatigue bc some of the worst tendencies of the series continue/get worse and are harder to ignore e.g. the story forgets/ignores things to make something happen; the plot gets so convoluted it overlooks obvious things; Parker has to thwart common sense/get dumber to ridiculous degrees to create a scenario/miss flagrant answers (like you seriously have a tree that travels to a 1000 realms and have been confronted with the unknown before but you're STILL tied down to the idea that magic HAS to be one you recognize?)

I began hitting burnout when the last book introduced powerful gods but only made them a real problem at the end (a problem quickly neutralized). This book suffers similarly; there are only so many times an arrogant monologue and show of power can replace simply frying Parker or Nick on the spot. The high danger level against incredible feats of magic + SUPER good luck are always a delicate balancing act, but I think this one was pushed a bit too far in more than one area.

And of course, there’s my continued complaint about how little Nick’s life/problems come into play in anything other than off-handed comments. He’s there to be the perfect King for Parker, and he continues to be exceptional at it. It will be interesting to see how he’ll be affected by the fallout from this book. Though in a way, it will be messed up/infuriating if this ends up being the only way Nick’s emotional well-being and inner life are FINALLY be explored.

Best One Yet

What a ride! All the bits and pieces of all the other books are slowly coming together to really show the creativity of Kai Butler, and the ultimate planning the author has been putting into the entire series. I hope the next book isn’t the last but I suspect it might be as all the pieces are wrapping up. But even if this all wraps up, maybe we can still follow Nick and Parker on other adventures. This book series must be read in order and this is the first one to really end on a major cliff hanger, but it’s a good one and I still feel satisfied with the ending while very excited for the next book, which is a ways away. :( I own the entire series, and all the stories are great and Greg is an excellent narrator as usual!

Cliff Hanger Warning Needed

I'm so mad that after such a great book there was a cliff hanger. The ending makes you want to immediately buy the next book. We keep being pulled into this false sense of peace every book but really we need to see each book from a preservative of hope if we're going to survive this wild ride of fae magic, different realms, and love.

Great series with a great narrator, but a cruel, cruel cliffhander!! Both Kai and Greg have done it again!!!
