Publisher's summary

Twenty years in the future, America perches on the edge of collapse, devastated by drought and dwindling resources. California, now a totalitarian surveillance state controlling the lion's share of the nation's economy, is on the brink of secession. And family man Nathan Fisher finds himself at the heart of a bloody conspiracy that threatens the lives of his loved ones and the future of the country itself. Pursued by Mason Flagg and the sinister Cerberus organization, Nathan and his embattled family - accompanied by tough-as-nails Marine David Quinn - make a desperate run across the blasted wastes of the western United States, seeking sanctuary in Nevada.

Woefully outmanned and outgunned by a cadre of ruthless Russian mercenaries enlisted by Flagg, and closely pursued by the drug cartels that rule the ravaged Southwest, the Fishers need some serious help to survive...but at what price?

PLEASE Write Book 3 Already!!

Excellent and realistic storyline. Rather prescient and enthralling given the ever increasing powers of the Federal Govt and it's callused and deadly reach into our everyday lives.

unworthy followup

similar style, action and pacing to its pretecessor, but very little added by way of story development or creativity. this book was basically one long action scene linking books 1 and 3. you could skip this book and lose nothing by way of character or plot development. I hate it when authors create fluff to sell more books, and that's what happened here.

Good Story

Ok, Ok Nathan wife was getting on my last nerve. I was like shut up and run or listen or someone knock her out. I also feel like the series wasn't over or never finished. We were just let with no ending and that isn't good.

Very little happens

Even though the story is action packed and thrilling from beginning to end there is very little progression in the actual story. it's basically listening to 13 hours of hide and seek. Exciting? yes, entertaining? Sure! But just like the game... nothing is actually happening except chasing and running.

Another win

Great, gritty, and gripping. Couldn’t have asked for a better write or performance. Well done.

good military thriller

good solid mil. techno thriller. A little light on the techno but fairly solid. it is near future so current systems are not the focus. storyline and people are good. I will definitely continue the series.

not as good as the first, but

was decent enough to keep my attention, hopefully the third book will wrap it up nicely.
