About this listen

A wildly imaginative novel about a man who is reincarnated over 10,000 lifetimes to be with his one true love: Death herself.

First we live. Then we die. And then...we get another try?

Ten thousand tries, to be exact. Ten thousand lives to "get it right". Answer all the big questions. Achieve wisdom. And become one with everything.

Milo has had 9,995 chances so far and has just five more lives to earn a place in the cosmic soul. If he doesn't make the cut, oblivion awaits. But all Milo really wants is to fall forever into the arms of Death. Or Suzie, as he calls her.

More than just Milo's lover throughout his countless layovers in the Afterlife, Suzie is literally his reason for living - as he dives into one new existence after another, praying for the day he'll never have to leave her side again.

But Reincarnation Blues is more than a great love story: Every journey from cradle to grave offers Milo more pieces of the great cosmic puzzle - if only he can piece them together in time to finally understand what it means to be part of something bigger than infinity. As darkly enchanting as the works of Neil Gaiman and as wisely hilarious as Kurt Vonnegut's, Michael Poore's Reincarnation Blues is the story of everything that makes life profound, beautiful, absurd, and heartbreaking.

Because it's more than Milo and Suzie's story. It's your story, too.

Eh

Maybe spoiler alert: book contains graphic violence and mutilation, sexual assault, enslavement and racist slurs/ language

I Really liked the beginning of this book. The premise was wholesome and engaging and had a pretty good pace for about ⅔ of the book. Then it just took a dark turn. And never really recovered. There are some great parables to be had but by the end of the book I just wanted it to be over. It droned on longer than I cared for and was just redundant and forced, like the author had no real direction for the resolution. Narrator or editing had some really strange pauses that often lead me to wonder if the audio skipped. Just disappointing.

what a wild, wonderful ride

good grief i LOVE this book! i haven't enjoyed listening to a book this much since The Help. the story is just wonderful. i can't compare it to anything because i've never read anything like this. maybe others have but not me. i will be listening to this one again & again because there was so much going on i know i missed some of the references. the names were hysterical. i mean, there's a lot of stuff going on & so many names mentioned over 9,995+ lives! its not for everyone, i know. if you don't like to take a walk on the wild side, find something else to listen to. in the world as it is today, this book is a wonderful, welcome escape. i spent 13 plus hours listening with a smile on my face the entire time. my favorite part was AWKWARD! laughed out loud at that one. enjoy! enjoy the ride! what a love story. i'd like to think my husband and i are going through eternity the same way, if i just believed in reincarnation.

Once in a while you stumble upon a story that makes you feel like you’re going to be a better person for having experienced it.

This is one of those stories.
Situated between to Slaughterhouse Five and Cloud Atlas, with notes of the film “Defending Your Life,” this novel made life seem a little clearer to me.

Thick, rich storytelling by author and reader

If you’re looking for a read that is a pleasure on both playful and profound levels, by an author who nails it and a reader who nails it, too, do yourself a favor and give this one a listen. It is Perfection.

Haven't enjoyed a book so much for a long time!

This is a great story of love and adventure, delicate and good humored, mixing fantasy and sci-fi, but mostly profoundly human.
