Acerca de esta escucha

From New York Times bestselling author Christopher Moore comes a hilariously deranged tale of a mad scientist, a famous painter, and an undead woman’s electrifying journey of self-discovery.

Vienna, 1911. Gustav Klimt, the most famous painter in the Austrian Empire, the darling of Viennese society, spots a woman’s nude body in the Danube canal. He knows he should summon a policeman, but he can’t resist stopping to make a sketch first. And as he draws, the woman coughs. She’s alive!

Back at his studio, Klimt and his model-turned-muse Wally tend to the formerly-drowned girl. She’s nearly feral and doesn’t remember who she is, or how she came to be floating in the canal. Klimt names her Judith, after one of his most famous paintings, and resolves to help her find her memory.

With a little help from Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung, Judith recalls being stranded in the arctic one hundred years ago, locked in a crate by a man named Victor Frankenstein, and visiting the Underworld.

So how did she get here? And why are so many people chasing her, including Geoff, the giant croissant-eating devil dog of the North?

Poor Things meets Bride of Frankenstein in Anima Rising, Christopher Moore’s most ingenious (and probably most hilarious) novel yet.

Great story with a lots of humor horror and a Dog named Geoff with a G.

More Moore is always a good thing!

I’m a huge Christopher Moore fan, and have read every book he’s put out. A Dirty Job will penalty always be my favorite, but I really enjoy his historical fiction. Part of that is doubtless due to my life-long fascination with, and wildly overpriced education in art history, from which art historians somehow manage to suck every drop of joy, energy, and color. This and Scaré Bleu make otherwise dreary, two-dimensional characters into wonderfully flawed, brilliantly colorful human beings, even if they are largely made-up. Seriously, read all his books. 😊

I like his historical fiction

I loved the various voices the reader used for the characters. So well done, a joy to listen to.

The blend of history and fiction.

Maybe because I have covered the characters in the novel as a journalist, but Moore brought to life the two dimensional history of Vienna greats illustrating the elements of truth with his own caricature of words. The audio performance was so talented , it felt as if there were numerous narrators so varied the accents and tone. Bravo !

Captivating Characters , Masterpiece of Art, Horror and Mythology

Literally everything about this book was fantastic. The characters, the use of lore, characters both real and fictional. Positively delightful. ❤️

Frankenawesome!

Always, Christopher Moore just killed it on the dark humor and satire with the sexual undertones which are my favorite. Thank you sir for all you do for us! Spot on with the narration Mary Jane wells, as always.

Hilarious as usual from Christopher Moore. There is a reference to other works in every chapter and they are amazing.

This was a good fun Christopher Moore book. Mary Jane Wells narration elevated it. Much like Euan Morton did for the Serpent of Venice - Mary Jane made this so much better than just reading it. Not only can Moore write wild and crazy stories, he is amazing at finding the best narrators

Brilliant narration

A must read for any Christopher Moore fans. A spiritual sequel to Sacre Bleu but with more one liners and less art history. I hope to see the further adventures of Judith and Wally some day. 5 stars

Hilarious horror novel only Christopher Moore can

Once again, he tells a funny and sweet story. The only one that did not wow me was Sacre Bleu.

Consistently good as (almost) always
