Really Good Christian Inspirational Book.

Would you listen to Refining Fires again? Why?

Absolutely. It is three stories carefully crafted and connected together. It is well-written and inspiring and the characters are very likable. It is scripturally sound without being judgmental or preachy. Very good story. I will look for this authors other works.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the combination of the accurate portrayal of God's working in people's life along with the changes that they work toward. It is very well balanced and very edifying.

What about Andrea Tuszynski’s performance did you like?

She does a good job bringing the characters to life. She does a good male voice and give Peter a touch of formality appropriate for his character. I really enjoyed her narrating.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. Although because there are three stories, you could easily break it into three listening sessions.

Aah! What a Romantic Story!

Any additional comments?

I don’t usually read romance novels, but this one is so good that it kept me glued to my earphones! It reminded me of the Beauty and the Beast! If it were not for having other obligations, I would have listened to it in one sitting.

I enjoyed the beautiful voice and well delivered narration of Andrea Tuszynski.

I received this audio-book free for an honest review by the author, narrator, or publisher. Thank you!!!

An Uplifting Message

Refining Fires is a trio of Christian stories lovingly intertwined to build a complex narrative. Part One is Peter and Clare's story. Peter is a Korean war veteran, scarred and living an isolated life. He advertises for a live in nurse, and Clare answers the ad. Clare has sorrows of her own, and the nursing job is her only hope of finding work and staving off homelessness. The two slowly build a friendship, but their inner sorrows may prevent them from believing in second chances.

Part Two is Susannah's story, a sweet girl living alone in a rural area with her beloved mother. When her mother takes ill, Susannah must overcome her disability to find help. Part Three is the story of a bitter woman who, after having spent her life as a pet to one man or another, comes to realize God has had her in his care all along.

This is a clean read with a Christian message woven throughout. Peter and Clare are very clearly drawn characters. The illustration of Peter's physical and emotional scars and how Clare courageously helps him is well written and handled with sympathy and understanding. The other two stories are shorter but hold their own inspirational messages.

The narration is well done, Andrea Tuszynki has a young voice that is easy to listen to. She narrates evenly with a good pace and doesn't overact. I received a copy of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Unique set of stories

I got this ARC via audiobook boom. This set of interconnected stories were well worth the listen. They are set in the post-Korean War era. The first and longest set the groundwork for the other two. The secondary characters play a vital role in the stories progression especially the butler. The humor is very well done. I loved the scene where the hero asks the h what happened when he asked the butler to show her the way out. Her answer cracked me up. The narration was smooth and kept the story flowing. Faith plays a vital role throughout the story and makes it a very good story to listen to.
