About this listen

Evie Childs hoped the all-expense-paid trip to Africa would give her a chance at adventure. Maybe it would even let her forget a past that haunts her and find safety from a husband who abuses her.

But when a group of "freedom fighters" kidnaps her safari tour group, intent on holding them for ransom, the adventure turns to nightmare.

Now, Evie and the rest of the survivors must travel across miles of the harshest, most dangerous environment on Earth. No food. No water. No communications. And they're being hunted.

A pack of Africa's top predators have smelled the blood of the survivors, and will not stop until they have fed. Because in this place, you can be either one of the prey, or one of the predators.

Confusing storyline

Too wordy. Too confusing. Poorly developed characters with storylines going all over the place. Character's own mental processing was jumbled in with the survival plot. And mixed all through the book is another story about a make believe land with peanut butter a snow boy whose can't find his parents - It's a knock off of The Wizard of Oz and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. This book was not an entertaining read.

A good time passer

This story has a slow start, but does pick up and the ending is well worth getting through the slow part.

WAY too descriptive but got better

Omg, If the author was describing a rock it would take him a whole chapter. WAY too much description, imagery and over-the-top character development. He toned it down about 1/2 way through the book thank goodness. I mean a little girl thinking deep poetic comparisons of everything from people to a smell. The story itself was phenomenal. You may think that he "hates" men but once you realize who the bad animals are & their hierarchy it will make sense. I LOVED the overall story and could easily see this turned into a movie.

NOT ENOUGH ACTION AND SUSPENSE

Too much of the story was spent on the characters backgrounds and inner thoughts. Not enough action and suspense which is what I want in my horror stories.

Poorly Canned Fiction.

I believe that when you are presenting a story (especially fiction) the background information should be correct. You have a character whom supposedly purchased a Rolling Stones T-shirt in 1969, before band t-shirts were a even a thing. Even worse, the author has the shirt as the "Some Girls" album tour...that album wasn't released until 1979 or 1980. Then the author has this idea that Marijuana has an eternal shelf life. I know this might sound like I'm searching for faults but it's not true. The faults just keep slapping you in the face! The woman reading the book has a rather bright cheerful voice tone which totally clashes with the parts dealing with some violent situations.
