About this listen
In 2011, the Italian neurologist Dr Antonio Costantini began treating his Parkinson’s patients with high doses of B1. As a result, their symptoms improved by up to 70 percent with no obvious progression in the disease over the five years he worked with them. Yet there is still a lack of awareness about this valuable therapy amongst doctors and Parkinson’s nurses.
This book is intended for people with Parkinson’s and their health professionals. It presents theories and hypotheses to explain the substantial effect thiamine has on the brain, discusses the available research which has studied the effect of high doses of B1 on Parkinson’s patients, and details the protocol, as we currently understand it, for patients and doctors who wish to use the therapy.
Parkinson’s is a degenerative disease and consequently there is a sense of urgency for neurologists, doctors, and Parkinson’s nurses to acquaint themselves with this therapy. This treatment is immediately available, relatively inexpensive and safe, and for many of us has improved our lives significantly.
Sadly, in 2020 Dr. Costantini died from Covid-19. However, his colleagues, wishing to continue his work, have designed a rigorous research project to understand more about the effect of high doses of thiamine on the Parkinson’s brain. This in-depth research is needed before the therapy will be adopted by mainstream medicine. The research team have, however, been unable to procure funding to start this important study.

Brain diseases are now the world's leading source of disability. The fastest growing of these is Parkinson's: the number of people with Parkinson's doubled to over six million over the last 25 years and is projected to double again by 2040. Harmful pesticides known to cause Parkinson's proliferate, many people remain undiagnosed and untreated, research funding stagnates, and the most effective treatment is now a half century old.

Story
While Parkinson’s Disease can be debilitating, there is plenty of compelling data to show that exercise is one of the best ways of managing PD symptoms. Studies show that regular exercise can improve gait, grip, balance, stability, strength, and motor control in the PD client. In addition, this improvement in movement and mobility helps to reduce falls, injuries, and various other complications of the disease in the PD client.

The author, Yuchi Yang, has been a registered dietitian for more than twenty years. She has been counseling patients with Parkinson’s on food and nutrition to optimize their health with diet. Levodopa (L-dopa) is the most commolny used medication to treat the symptoms of Parkinson's disease. Dietary protein can compete with L-dopa to cross the blood-brain barrier and decrease the efficacy of the drug. Such problem of protein and levodopa competition usually appears years after the initiation of L-dopa therapy.

Millions of people are suffering from chronic illnesses that, unbeknownst to them, are the result of exposure to environmental toxins and infectious agents such as mold and Borrelia, which causes Lyme disease. Millions. Because the symptoms of these illnesses are so varied and unusual, many of these individuals have sought medical care only to be dismissed, as if what they are experiencing is “in their head”. Many (if not most) have tried to tough it out and continue to function without hope of improvement. Unfortunately, their illnesses are very real.

Story
You may not know that you have Lyme. It can mimic every disease process, including Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, autoimmune conditions like MS, psychiatric conditions like depression and anxiety, and cause significant memory and concentration problems, mimicking early dementia. It is called the "Great Imitator," and inaccurate testing - combined with a fierce, ongoing debate that questions chronic infection - makes it difficult for sufferers to find effective care.

Read this book if you have Parkinson’s!
My husband has Parkinson’s. I was researching clinical studies and came across information using high dose B1 for treatment. Since starting the B1 2 months ago, he is seeing improvement in energy level, mood, strength, and now beginning to be able to smell again…and basically “feeling alive” again. Now he is conversational, and laughs and smiles easily….so much different than before. We use the B1 in addition to using a Vielight device 3x a week. And of course his routine Parkinson medications. Overall he is doing much better than he was 1 year ago!….and that is pretty much unheard of in the Parkinson’s world!!

This book covered a therapy, not previously known to me. It is exciting to hear about some things so accessible that could help so many people with the disease and I will be telling as many people as possible about the therapy.
Hope, lessened PD symptoms, and something within easy reach will surely make a difference to a lot of people. Thank you for this book.
