About this listen

Set in the early days of the Jensen family saga, this gun-blazing adventure follows Smoke and Sally from their first year of marriage to the founding of the legendary Sugarloaf Ranch....

Johnstone Country. When Smoke Met Sally.

For most couples, the marriage vows end with "'Til death do us part.” But when Smoke Jensen takes Sally Reynolds as his lawfully wedded wife, it’s just the beginning. The tragic deaths of Smoke’s first wife and child weigh heavily on his heart. Thankfully, Sally is there to give him the support he needs when they return to Colorado, where it all happened.

She’s ready to embrace her husband’s past - for better or worse - and to welcome his friend Preacher into the family. But when outlaws make an attempt to kidnap a local girl, Sally is forced to use the gun skills she had learned from Smoke to save both of their lives, learning the hard way what it means to be married to a Jensen....

Too much repeat from previous books

The first 8 chapters were repeat stories of the first two books, which was very disappointing. The last part was better and that is why I gave it three stars for the story.

OUTLAW COUNTRY; SMOKE JENSEN

THIS IS THE LAST BOOK IN THE SMOKE JENSEN SERIES. THE NARRATED IS JACK GARRETT WHOM I THINK IS JUST AWESOME. HE MAKES THE STORY SO EASY TO LISTEN TO: I WISH ALL OF THE BOOKS WRITEN BY J.A. JOHNSTONE AND WILLIAM W. JOHNSTON USED JACK GARRET. THE SMOKE JENSEN SERIES IS VERY ACTIVE WITH LOTS OF TOSS AND TURNS. WELL THOUGHT OF AND WRITTEN. I HIGHLY RECOMMED THIS SERIES AND THESE AUTHORS. I HAVE MANY OF THEIR AUDIO BOOKS.

Repetitive

Two hours in and is mostly the previous book in exact words. Couple different flashback angles. Numerous flashbacks that are incorrect. Start around 2 hours in you want an alternate ending at the Ranch. New content starts about 2.5 hours in.

Not really what I was expecting

Probably my least liked of the Jensen Series. Too much flashbacks and and it was just sort of highlights of the stories. Good performance, just not my kind of western.

tyranny vs freedom

sometimes it takes a while to awaken the citizens to what they have given up. Fortunately in Fontana Smoke and family are there to fight for freedom. Smoke needs to appear here and now.

Repeat

I did not enjoy that piece of the same stories that I had already heard. I really didn’t want to hear them again I don’t enjoy redundancy.

A trash can book.

This book is a hogpog of very short stories with little development all of which are in expanded form in other books in the Smoke Jensen series. Don’t bother.
