Publisher's summary

Johnny Shooter was sentenced to hang at noon. But Judge Isaac Parker, widely known as the "Hanging Judge", made Johnny an offer he couldn't refuse. The judge made him a Deputy United State Marshal, then sent his new deputy after the worst-of-the-worst outlaws the Indian territory had to offer, with the orders not to burden the court by bringing them back for trial. Now, rumor has it that whenever outlaws gather around a campfire, the word is: "The only thing worse than standing before the Hanging Judge is hearing that Johnny Shooter is on your trail!"

Shooter

This is definitely a five star book. This is one of my favorite book. It has everything I like in a book. Shooter is a United States Marshall and he's working on getting a Pardon. If he can survive. Judge Parker sends him on the toughest cases. There is several missions he goes on. Some by himself some he takes help. Bass Reeves is in a couple of them. This book is worth a credit in my opinion. Gene Engene does an excellent job narrating this book. If my review is any help will you please click on the helpful link below. Thank you.

Narrator

Totally like Gene Eugene as a Narrator, number one in the Western category with the exception of the intoxicated characters...

Great western book.

If you could sum up Shooter in three words, what would they be?

Great, Action, and exciting.

What other book might you compare Shooter to and why?

Riders of the purple sage.
Follows same characters all through the book,
and keeps you rooting for them.

If you could take any character from Shooter out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Judge Parker. To find out if it bothered him to hang all those men.

Any additional comments?

Gene engene is a great reader, and everyone should read all of Dusty Rhodes books.
You will have hours of wonderful enjoyment.

Good western and great reader

If you could sum up Shooter in three words, what would they be?

It is a nice historical fiction western. Everything you need, guns, outlaws, adventure, horses, and a woman.

What does Gene Engene bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?

I've have been a fan of Gene Engene since the 1980's. He has the ability to make a bad book great.

Great!

Another exceptional book by the real author Dusty Rhodes and not a hack using his good name. Great story line where good prevails!

Enjoyable Listen

"....steaming hot cup of coffee.....folded his tired body into a chair....". I really enjoyed the narrator's voice and intonations. I feel like the narrator authentically knew the language of 1870's American West. Story was good with a satisfying ending. My favorite by this author and narrator is "Manhunter". I recommend "Shooter" but I highly recommend "Manhunter"

Predictable Plot

Plot pretty close to his other books. Enjoyed the book but as a person of color I am really bothered by the story line and narrative that always portrays African American men with the Amos and Andy, typical 40s-50's Hollywood grammar/vocals of Black people. Step-n-Fetchin Uncle Tom types. Why is this necessary Mr. Engene?

This one is am A+

This is a better story than most of this genre.the narrator does an interesting job of ising different characters of both genders that I kept rooting for him to pull it off.
