About this listen

Daemon's determined to prove what he feels for Katy is more than a product of their bizarro connection. So she's sworn him off, even though he's running more hot than cold these days. But they've got bigger problems. The Department of Defense is here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that Katy and Daemon are linked, Katy's a goner. So is he. And there's this new boy in school who's got a secret of his own. He knows what's happened to Katy and he can help, but to do so, Katy has to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that's possible. Against all common sense, Katy's falling for Daemon. Hard.

Katy's seen someone who shouldn't be alive. And she has to tell Daemon, even though he'll never stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them - from her?

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies....

Always wanting more Katy and Daemon!

After “reading” Obsidion on Chapters and then listening to it here I had to have more. I’m in love with Daemon, and I’ve grown accustomed to Justine Eyre’s raspy overtly sensual sound, trust me when I say she’s almost tolerable as a narrator so long as you speed up to at least 1.25* otherwise, no thanks.
As for Onyx, not as much action in some parts as Obsidion but everything worked perfectly well. Daemon is my new guilty pleasure.

Five Stars Worth of Entertainment!

Fast paced, witty, exciting, hAwt and steamy (yet very tastefull) romance and that is just to start. The characters have depth and their relationships develop in a manner that leaves you sitting on the edge to see what happens next. I have listened to all five of these books on audiable and I have bought the kindle versions so I can enjoy it again. I would love to see this series go on and on and I would also be first in line for the movie.

The narrorator made the characters come alive and enriched the story for me.

Great Story, but I can't take the Narrator

She just can't pull off Daemon with her weak nasally voice. I can't do it anymore.

Better than the first book

so I didn't love the first book but I still needed to know what would happen with Daemon and Katy. This book has more action and more of a story line but it was still frustrating at times. How many times is Daemon going to put his hands on either side of Katy and lean in and almost kiss her. About 50 times in this book. Come one already! Talk about dragging the story out. And Katy is just an idiot in this book. I wanted to slap her so many times. I'm not even sure if I care what happens with her and Daemon anymore. But I'll probably read the next book anyway because I'm an idiot too. The narrator kills me though. Her Daemon voice is hysterical. I can't even hear what he's saying because it's so ridiculous.

Seriously? Who approved the narrator's?

I'll love these books so much they are my hands down all time favorite series but when I went through them the 2nd time I decided to try audiobook versions. Much to my dismay I hated the narrator's voice so much I almost quit listening. Katy & Daemon are both in their late teens (18 I think) but the female & male who narrate their parts don't sound a day under 40 and what's worse is the horrible impressions they attempt to do of opposite sex characters. Listening to the narrator for Katy reminds me of a mom attempting to mimic their teenage daughter but instead sounding unnatural/awkward.

Book 2

New narrator..female ..hard to get use to from 1st book..one complaint. The story always ends in a cliffhanger.. must listen to the story from beginning..story of aliens living among us. Peacefully.. lies ,deception always close by....when the government is involved. So what else is new..good story line...author is 👍

A definite improvement over the first

The plot thickens!

The story, the writing, the dialogue... all a huge growth since part one. By the second half of this one, this is clearly a series that can hold its own. Intrigue, suspense, heartbreak and a few good chuckles. I can't wait for Book 3!

What made the experience of listening to Onyx the most enjoyable?

The two main characters made the listening experience the most enjoyable. I love Kat and Daemon’s dynamics. I love the tension, I love the banter and I love everything about them.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Onyx?

The two main characters made the listening experience the most enjoyable. I love Kat and Daemon’s dynamics. I love the tension, I love the banter and I love everything about them.

What does Justine Eyre bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

This is my second time to listening to Justine Eyre and I have to say I like her more and more with each book I listen to. She isn’t overly girly, so her voice matches Kat completely. It’s a bit mature, yet she really knows how to express emotions, especially when Kat starts crying. I enjoy Justine voice very much.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes I can listen to this book in all in one sitting. There’s so much action, tension, drama and dialogue that keeps me going and going. It’s a fantastic series.

Any additional comments?

5 Just say it Stars

I read this series three years ago. I started to read YA before I started to read NA. I’m still a major fan of YA and there’s something about listening to YA books that I really love. I love that these books are pure romance and the steamy stuff is kind of on the back-burner. I also love paranormal reads, so this is a win-win for me.

If you haven’t started this series or if you already read them, you should do the audio version. I feel like I re-experience everything for the first time.

Onyx picks up where Obsidian leaves off. Daemon and Kat are growing closer in their relationship and another person is thrown in to the mix… Blake.

I wouldn’t call this a love-triangle book, but I love Blake’s character. I felt he added great tension and I loved seeing Daemon jealous. Blake is the new kid in town and he’s showing interest towards Kat. He’s willing to take whatever relationship he can get from her, friendship, or something more. Kat still has feelings for Daemon, but with Daemon’s hot and cold personality, she wants to focus on someone else.

Blake is a great distraction and even though she makes it clear to Blake that she only wants a friendship, it still ruffles Daemon… just a tad bit and I love it.

The thing I really love about this series is the pure romance of it and oh the innocence of Daemon and Kat’s relationship. I love how much Daemon cares for Kat. He does turn around a bit and tries to pursue her, but Kat only thinks Daemon likes her because of the connection.

Can I just say that I love the connection?! Anything that links two people together gets me all squishy inside. Shelly Crane did that in the Significance series and I thought it was fantastic. I love that Kat isn’t throwing herself at Daemon. I love that she is slightly guarded and she’s trying to prevent herself from getting hurt. I love strong Heroines in paranormal books. I think you kind of have to have them if they are willing to face off villains and bad guys.

This book was jam pack of fun and it kept me interested from start to finish. I loved it and I love this series.

Better than book 1

I loved this book! There was a lot more use of powers and the plot was amazing! I loved the mystery and action. And that twist at the end!! Wow! Can’t wait to see what happens next.
