About this listen

Never fall for your best friend....

Pushing 30, with his reenlistment looming, decorated navy sniper Maddox Horvat is taking a long look at what he really wants in life. And what he wants is Ben Tovey. It isn't smart, falling for his best friend and fellow SEAL, but 10 years with Ben has forged a bond so intimate Maddox can't ignore it. He needs Ben by his side forever - heart and soul.

Ben admits he likes what he's seen - his friend's full lower lip and the perfect muscles of his ass have proved distracting more than once. But Ben's still reeling from a relationship gone to hell, and he's not about to screw up his friendship with Maddox, too.

Until their next mission throws Ben and Maddox closer together than ever before, with only each other to depend on.

Now, in the lonely, desperate hours awaiting rescue, the real challenge - confronting themselves, their future and their desires - begins. Man to man, friend to friend, lover to lover.

This is book three in the Out of Uniform series. Don't miss the first two books:

Book one: Off Base
Book two: At Attention

Wonderful Surprise

Another audio book to add to my collection. As always JF Harding did an amazing job with bringing these characters to life. Story has all necessary elements for great erotica.

Hurt/comfort soulmates romance!

Narration: I love that this series uses several different narrators and they all do a great job, JF Harding included. Harding does more than just read this story - the narration is full of emotion and brought the characters and story to life. I would have loved the story if I read it, but the narration added another level and made me love it even more.

Story: I love this entire series and this book is one of my favorites. It has some of my favorite tropes. Best-friends-to-lovers. Two idiots in love and don’t realize it. Literally everyone but them knows they’re in love (and Ben’s dad even asks if they’re “finally more than friends” multiple times and Ben still doesn’t connect the dots.) A life-or-death situation where one MC saves the other. Hurt/comfort. Big life changes that one MC resists (ok this isn’t quite a trope, but it’s the kind of growth I love to see in a book.) Seriously, there’s a lot to love about this book! It has plenty of tropes and does justice to them all.

This book basically has three parts - survival, recovery and the aftermath. It’s definitely a bit cheesy and dramatic, and both guys are ridiculously stubborn, but I love it so much. Ben and Maddox have experienced practically all of life’s milestones together, the good and the bad, and have served as Navy Seals together for a while. I love it when the MCs have a deeply rooted level of love and trust and a bond that’s really tested but ultimately unbreakable. There is a tough road to the HEA, but it makes sense and is so sweet - these guys literally go through hell and back.

Highly recommend this book and the entire series!

Best of the Series

By far the best of this series! Loved every moment!! These characters were the best developed by Ms. Albert, and it was so easy to root for them throughout the whole story.

Not knowing what you want as the sole plot line

So I loved Maddox but Ben was frustrating to no end. Bossy and without a clue. And indignant when he was given plenty of warning about what Maddox wanted. So I struggled to hang in there with him. I really struggle when the sole plot line is one or both main characters having no clue what they want and what really matters. and then it's even worse when they mistreat the hero that does know. Alas they finally got there once he got a clue. just was not a pleasurable journey for me.

narrator voice is sexy!

Gotta love these guys...

...because they're crazy. Another good listen of a book I enjoyed reading. And this one was a more enjoyable listen than a read. J. F. Harding did a wonderful job narrating Ben and Maddox's story. He isn't the best at doing female voices, but that's always tough for a man with a deeper voice, so I can overlook that. In general, his was a fine performance, well read in a strong, pleasantly masculine voice well suited to the two main characters. Another win for a good author, and for this narrator as well.

Good Listen

Another good installment in this series. I was super excited to see that J.F. Harding was narrating. He gave Maddox the same hot sexy voice that Kage had. (Probably my favorite voice ever for a character!). I would have enjoyed it more if the threesome/voyeur scenes were not included. While I’m so not a prude, it’s hard for me to wrap my head around wanting to see someone you love with someone else. When someone mentioned it in one of the reviews I almost didn’t read it. I skipped over a lot in those scenes. I’m still on the fence as to whether I can listen to the last book in the series because Canaan is a main character and I don’t know if I can separate my disgust and dislike for him after the part he played in this book enough to read an entire book with him in it. Similarly I had mixed feelings about Ben and his history. Maddox made the book for me and is the main reason for my rating. **** I’m adding to this review after reading Canaan’s book. While I still didn’t like his role in this book, his book (last in this series) is wonderful! I am sooo glad I gave it a chance!

stalking skills

This is what i come upon when i start stalking a narrator. J. F. Harding is one of the best narrators out there. and on top of that. Ifind this gem of a book out there. A story about the love between two men. Best friends. navy seal buddys. And roomates.
I know this is book 3 in a series. but it didnt matter at all.
It only got me thinking that i might need to look into Annabeth Albert some more. This girl can write.

Wonderful story

I enjoyed the two previous books and when I saw that JF Harding was narrating the third, I pre-ordered it..... So excited when it hit my account yesterday. Once again, the series doesn't diapoint and Mr. Harding was fantastic!!
