Publisher's summary

A chalice of wisdom for our time. (Ernest L. Rossi, PhD, C.J. Jung Institute of Los Angeles)

Milton H. Erickson has been called the most influential hypnotherapist of our time. Part of his therapy was his use of teaching tales, which through shock, surprise, or confusion - with genius use of questions, puns, and playful humor - helped people to see their situations in a new way. In this audiobook Sidney Rosen has collected over 100 of the tales. Presented verbatim and accompanied by Dr. Rosen's commentary, they are grouped under such headings as Motivating Tales, Reframing, and Capturing the Innocent Eye.

My Voice Will Go with You is skillfully narrated by Brian Arens, an Audible listener favorite.

Takes to late in chapter 3 to start up

It’s a must have, it’s the wizards work, but it’s also taxed with academic nothingness in the first non elites prohibitory taxing manner of charades of words saying nothing at all but a sorta of benign build up for the intellectually easily ruffled and scoff real world success types.

To be fair it’s a near perfect fit for those in institutionalized style of education who fear the crazy and wild free thinkers like Erickson who slip thru the cracks and maintain wonder and personal power... nor worse the the Autodidactic self starters who question not only others but themselves with such scrutiny we shutter at these 3 first taxing opening chapters...

Otherwise, exceptional resource ;-)

This was a beautiful masterpiece.

This was a beautiful masterpiece. I listened twice, back to back. This was an eye opening book. From the overall story to the way it was read.

My only lingering question after reading was. at what point it made mention of a rape that resulted from one patient. What came of that situation? How was it handle after?

I listened to this at slow pace

I read this book over 20 years ago and listened to it here now. The book is full of amusing, entertaining and healing stories of late Milton Erickson. The author has added a brief explanation behind each story that makes it even more easier to understand. I normally listen to audiobooks at fast speed, but this one I listed at normal and at places slower pace. It’s was like listening to Dr. Erickson himself. I find that reader has done a great job in reading. It’s perfect. Highly recommended

Erickson’s sense of humor and the way he used it in conjunction with therapy is impressive as well as unconventional.

The book captures how unique he was even in his youth. Extremely confident, observant and knowledgeable of human behavior.

I wish this was twice as long!

Like the title says I wish this book was even longer. I regularly felt myself fall into and out of trances while listening to this book. I learned a lot about hypnosis and as a beginner learning Ericksonian hypnosis techniques has been eye opening!

Provides great insight

This book provides a marvelous insight into who Milton Erickson was, demonstrating how his childhood difficulties, coupled with an extraordinary mind, gave him the tools to develop remarkably effective therapeutic techniques.
