About this listen

From New York Times and USA Today best-selling author comes a Montana Sky novella of love and loss that coincides with Bright Montana Sky.

When a logging accident kills his friend and Felicity Woodbury’s fiancé, Lars Aagaard steps in to lend his support. To keep Felicity’s suitors at bay during her mourning period, the two act as if Lars is wooing her. But, already smitten, Lars hopes to turn the pretend courtship to real love.

This novella was first released in the multi-author anthology Romance Ever After.

Felicity gets her HEA

When you first meet Felicity in “Singing Montana Sky” she has just suffered the loss of her fiancée. I was so happy to be able to learn her story and more about Lars. They are both trying to heal from the loss of their friend.

This is another great book that is part of a wonderful series. I also love the narrator. She does an amazing job.

Sweet and lovely historical romance novella

A sweet and lovely historical novella from the Montana Sky series and the town of Sweetwater Springs. If falls between Singing Montana Sky and Bright Montana Sky and can be read on it's own.

This story is a touch sad as it deals with the a tragic death of a young man in his prime and the resulting grief of friends. But as in life, friends and family draw strength from each other. Felicity and Lars grow their own friendship and love out of their sadness.
It's a rich and beautiful story of survival and new love.

The Norwegian floral painting tradition of rosemal is highlighted in this story. Quite interesting and beautiful if you've never seen it.

I alternated between the audible version of this story, narrated by Lara Asmundson, and the kindle version. Both had me alternating between teary and happy.

Sweet

I enjoy the sweet love stories by Debra Holland. I prefer longer ones of 7-8 hours. This was a bit short. The kind and generous community depicted in her Montana Sky series creates such a soothing and pleasant mood .Reading these books is a welcome escape from meanness, murders, and everything dark.

Cute, Simple, tragedy and then love

Enjoyable listen to a young love ended by tragedy at a time women wore black in mourning. The time was also one in the west where women were scarce. So while Felicity was mourning her loss deeply there were young men after her immediately (distastefully). Step-up a gallant friend in the stead of the late intended young groom. Lars would stand in as a buffer for young Felicity, making others stay away. And then love conquers all.

Sweet story!

After a logging accident kills the man Felicity Woodbury is to marry she is heartbroken but very angry that men are already trying to "court" her and Johnny's only been gone for a few weeks. Lars Aagaard was a friend of Johnny's at the logging camp where they worked and he was the one who delivered the bad news of Johnny's death to Felicity. Connie a friend of Felicity's comes up with the idea that Felicity and Lars pretend to be courting to discourage other men from bothering her. They agree to this plan and along the way they both find that they have a lot in common and want this pretend relationship to become real.

I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet romance and all the ups and downs of these two trying to find their way to true love. Ms. Holland always writes such well written plots with great heroes and heroines in this time period. Going back and getting to find out what all the previous characters are up to is such a great part of the reading experience with her books. If you haven't read any of her Montana Sky books you need to do so or if you have an haven't had a chance to check My Girl out, go for it. This is a lovely read!

Debra Holland is the BEST

I absolutely adored the story. It was well written and kept an even pace that held my attention from beginning to end. Debra’s descriptions of Lars home were so good I could almost see it. I loved this book
and I highly recommended it.

Beautiful Story!

I love Debra Holland’s writing ability, the spirit she puts into her plots and the beautiful love story that leaves you smiling. Felicity was a maid at the hotel and Lars was a logger. Their story was a delight and Lara Asmundson narrated it wonderfully!

My Girl: A Montana Sky Series Novella

Felicity and Lars met under tragic circumstances but this beautiful story showed how they were both able to provide the support and healing that each other needed. Their friendship that grew into love helped them both overcome past hurts and well as the one that brought them together.
