About this listen

Just as Midshipman Alexis Carew thinks she's found a place in the Royal Navy, she's transferred aboard H.M.S. Hermione. Her captain is a Tartar, liberal with the cat, who thinks girls have no place aboard ship. The other midshipmen in the berth are no better and the only advice she's offered is to keep her head down and mouth shut - things Alexis is rarely able to do.

Love the Series, this book was great

I really enjoyed this book as much as the first. I've listened to them several times now.
J.A. Sutherland has become my favorite author. Elizabeth Klett narration is wonderful. Since it parallels the British Navy her accent brings it to life for me. I can't wait for the next book. Sutherland/Klett make a great team. Please keep it going.
I listened to hundreds of books in last few years, this is one I would recommend to everyone. Spend your credit, you will not be disappointed.

Excellent Work

Just finished the second novel. Good series for young adults or the young at heart.

An excellent read.

A good and riveting story of the HMS Hermione. The only thing missing would of be a paragraph on how they authenticated the log given to the court from a foreign power.

Book 2

If you could sum up Mutineer in three words, what would they be?

This book is second in the series of Alexis Carew, Midshipman Carew is assigned to VERY unhappy ship HMS Hermione with a cruel at best captain. The whole story is a based around of one of the bloodiest mutiny's in the history of the British navy..I really liked the first book and this follow up is as good. Waiting for the 3rd book in the series.

I Came back for more

I got the first book as a promotional copy, but it was good enough I came back and paid for more. Plain and simple, it's an excellent series.

Not earth shattering new fiction... it's a bit of school story, a bit of Horatio Hornblower, a bit of Honor Harrington, but it's fun, and clever, and tight. Elizabeth Klett manages a narration that is at once youthful and wide eyed, and sidelong sardonic, with good vocal differentiation and a fine sense of pacing.

Another Great Book in the Series!

Another great book in the Alexis Carew series. The captain in this book reminds me of a book I read decades ago when I was a child about a young man on a French man of war in the 19th century. Very realistic.

Good Sequel

liked the first book well enough, so I figured I give the second a try. I'd write more but I'm downloading the third and am anxious to start it.

Horacio Hornblower in space with a strong female lead character

Read or listen to this series. There’s enough science fiction to make it new and interesting, while the naval characters and lifestyle feels right. As a former Navy officer I have especially enjoyed reading the adventures of a strong, confident, and honest leader who happens to be a teenage girl at the beginning of the series.
