A traditional Scottish love token, the gold heirloom has been in his family for generations and not wearing it could bring bad luck—according to the superstitious Smythes.

But the real misfortune falls on a distraught cousin who suddenly disrupts the ceremony and dies with the brooch in her hand. The Smythes insist it's the curse. I enjoy the friendships in this story. Of course, the whole story is fantasy, but maybe we need more fantasy in our stories. Wallace is one of my favorite characters.

This one had way too many characters that were always named off but never really developed. So why have so many. It was distracting. And the flow was definitely off in this book compared to the other books in the series.

Although I listen to this entire thing twice the first time I listen to it up to a point cause I feel like I missed things so I went back to Lissa and the second time I listen to it I thought I picked up the clothes but oh boy, I did not see this ending coming. I do recommend this one.

I enjoyed this installment of the series as always the story and performance were fantastic! The character development continues, and I enjoy seeing the relationship between the characters grow and learning new facets of Their personalities. Looking forward to the next installment.
