About this listen

Amelia Willoughby has been engaged to the Duke of Wyndham for as long as she can remember. Literally. A mere six months old when the contracts were signed, she has spent the rest of her life waiting. And waiting. And waiting . . . for Thomas Cavendish, the oh-so-lofty duke, to finally get around to marrying her. But as she watches him from afar, she has a sneaking suspicion that he never thinks about her at all . . .

It's true. He doesn't. Thomas rather likes having a fiancée—all the better to keep the husband-hunters at bay—and he does intend to marry her . . . eventually. But just when he begins to realize that his bride might be something more than convenient, Thomas's world is rocked by the arrival of his long-lost cousin, who may or may not be the true Duke of Wyndham. And if Thomas is not the duke, then he's not engaged to Amelia. Which is the cruelest joke of all, because this arrogant and illustrious duke has made the mistake of falling in love . . . with his own fiancée!

Appreciate the full story

While telling a story of different people, felt very much like a retelling of the first book in sections. Seems like an attempt at what she masterfully does with the Bridgerton series.

Another entertaining story by Quinn!

Enjoyed it thoroughly as I have many of her other books. I highly recommend it.

Clearly a hot take

While I understand and appreciate many of the reviews being less than stellar, I actually enjoyed hearing the same story from Thomas and Amelia’s perspective.
It was like the missing puzzle pieces and now the picture is complete.
Is it repetitive?
Yes
Did I thoroughly enjoy it anyway?
Also yes
Amelia’s breathy voice may seem irritating at first, but honestly, her intelligence quite makes up for it.

Don’t waste your money

Same story as 1st in series- virtually identical storyline with little new except for a very few interludes between Amelia and Thomas. Rosalind Landor’s male voices are always annoyingly pretentious for me, and this time female lead is also annoying. Least favorite of the many Julia Quinn novels I have read!

The last sentence

I really loved reading this book but I loved it more after the last sentence.

Not my favorite Julia Quinn book.

The first third of the story is a repeat from book 1 of the series.

One storyline, 2 perspectives

I almost passed on these 2 books because of the reviews but I'm glad I didn't. I enjoy Julia London's stories and these did not disappoint. While this book and The Lost Duke of Wyndham tell the same story with some scenes in common they are told from different perspectives. I thoroughly enjoyed both books.

Missing piece of puzzle

I was hesitant to listen to this book based on previous reviews left but I’m so glad i listened. Rosalyn Landon delivers another amazing performance and truly brings the story to life. This story answered questions i had about Thomas Cavandish and what became of him.

Just great storytelling!

Excellent performance of a wonderful story. I have always loved the way both books mesh together.
