Acerca de esta escucha

Beloved authors Julia Quinn, Elizabeth Boyle, Laura Lee Guhrke, and Stefanie Sloane deliver the stories of four friends from Madame Rochambeaux's Gentle School for Girls who find an old sixpence in their bedchamber and decide that it will be the lucky coin for each of their weddings…

"Something Old"
Julia Quinn’s prologue introduces her heroine Beatrice Heywood and the premise for Four Weddings and a Sixpence.

"Something New"
In Stefanie Sloane's unforgettable story, an ever-vigilant guardian decrees that Anne Brabourne must marry by her twenty-first birthday. But love finds her in the most unexpected of ways.

"Something Borrowed"
Elizabeth Boyle tells the tale of Cordelia Padley, who has invented a betrothed to keep her family from pestering her to wed. Now she'll need to borrow one to convince them she's found her true love.

"Something Blue"
In Laura Lee Guhrke's story, unlucky Lady Elinor Daventry has her sixpence stolen from her and must convince the rake who pilfered the coin to return it in time for her own wedding.

"... and a Sixpence in Her Shoe"
Julia Quinn finishes with the story of Beatrice Heywood, who never believed that the sixpence was anything but a tarnished old coin—until it led all of her friends to true love. But her faith in the coin is tested when it keeps sending her to the wrong man!

I loves this collection of four stories about four friends. I laughed out loud during Julia Quinn's story about Beatrice. But credit too to Stefanie Sloane, Elizabeth Boyle, and Laura Lee Gurhke for their wonderful contributions to this audiobook. The four stories wove together so well. Mary Jane Wells amazing as always- I think I would buy anything narrated by her.

So much fun to listen to!

The way it continued from one young woman to the next was very well done. The sixpence was adorable starting with young girls and their histories. The last episode could have been more intriguing, it was a bit short. I really did enjoy listening to the stories.

Normally I avoid novellas as I like meeting characters and staying with them for a longer time than a novella permits. But these interrelated stores transcended that objection. A good deal of originality, engaging memorable characters, and superb narration made this book a delight. I've listened to it 2x in 7 months, unusual for me. I also liked learning of some novelists new to me who joined Julia Quinn in writing stories for this book.

…and a terrific narrator. I’ve reviewed Mary Jane Wells on these pages before. On my A-list of narrators, Wells is nearly up there with Davina Porter and Juliet Stevenson. The thing that keeps her below them is her continued mispronunciation of the word “mischievous.”
Enough said.

Fun stories…
