About this listen
This memoir is a unique insight into the personal journey and thoughts of one pilgrim who travelled across the Camino de Santiago twice. The pilgrimage from the south of France to Santiago, Spain, is not just about the places to see, cathedrals, or sites, but an invitation to meet travelers along the way and hear their stories. What drives people to walk 500 miles and how does it change them?
More Than All the Steps is an invitation to walk with me and other pilgrims as we experience the crunch of dirt under our feet and the bonds created with others and the trail.

Story
When faced with an empty nest, Kari decides to spread her wings. Giving up a job she loves, she sets off to walk across a whole country. A big one. A contemporary take on an ancient experience, Pilgrim is an entertaining and moving memoir of Kari’s 900-kilometer walk to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. In classic pilgrim fashion, she meets and befriends an array of companions along the way, from all walks of life, united by a common sincerity of purpose. Battling through sun and snow, mud and mountains, blisters and bedbugs, her real destination turns out to be "deep peace".

Story
When Andrew McCarthy's eldest son began to take his first steps into adulthood, McCarthy found himself wishing time would slow down. Looking to create a more meaningful connection with Sam before he fled the nest, as well as recreate his own life-altering journey decades before, McCarthy decided the two of them should set out on a trek like few others: 500 miles across Spain's Camino de Santiago. Over the course of the journey, the pair traversed an unforgiving landscape, having more honest conversations in five weeks than they'd had in the preceding two decades.

Leaving a highly visible job took some courage, but Tracy Pawelski knew it was time. As she looked out on her horizon, her next step crystallized. She would join her 21-year-old daughter on a once-in-a-lifetime walk across Spain called El Camino de Santiago. While Tracy’s trek along the 500 miles of this ancient Catholic pilgrimage began as a mother-daughter adventure, Tracy soon realized this was her Camino, a journey of profoundly personal insight and spiritual growth.

Story
"Do you like going for long walks?" Being asked this question by a fellow pilgrim, or peregrino, a few days into my month-long journey walking 500 miles across northern Spain seems ridiculous. And then, I realize it's a brilliant question. It seeks to answer why someone would embark on such a challenge. Honestly, I don't like walking. So why would I - or anyone - take a month off from work and life, leaving their family behind, to walk the Camino de Santiago? The physical, mental, and spiritual journey that is the Camino is profoundly personal yet universally transformational.

They're Russian Orthodox, not Buddhist, and they're also world-renowned dog breeders and authors of dog-training books that have sold in the millions.

In The Secret Life of a Fool, Palau recounts his years of rebellion and reckless living—and the moment when the shame of his life collided with God’s relentless grace, changing everything. It’s an unforgettably gutsy story, packed with honesty and hope for us all.

Story
Like many of us, Andrew Palau spent his growing-up years immersed in a selfish and self-centered life, numb to God and to the letters his evangelist father wrote him. In The Secret Life of a Fool, Palau recounts his years of rebellion and reckless living—and the moment when the shame of his life collided with God’s relentless grace, changing everything. It’s an unforgettably gutsy story, packed with honesty and hope for us all.

Story
Levi Benkert was playing with his children in the park when he received an urgent phone call from a friend asking him to drop everything and fly to Ethiopia to help organize a rescue orphanage for children destined to be murdered as part of a tribal superstition known as "mingi". In tribal culture, children and infants with even the slightest defect are considered "cursed" and are killed by their own parents, who fear allowing the children to live will cause bad luck to descend on the village. Moved by his friend's story, Levi packed his bags and left.

Story
At 23, Andrew Forsthoefel headed out the back door of his home in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, with a backpack, an audio recorder, his copies of Whitman and Rilke, and a sign that read "Walking to Listen". He had just graduated from Middlebury College and was ready to begin his adult life, but he didn't know how. So he decided to take a cross-country quest for guidance, one where everyone he met would be his guide. In the year that followed, he faced an Appalachian winter and a Mojave summer. He met beasts inside: fear, loneliness, doubt.

After purchasing one-way flights from New York City to Paris, Kyle James and his girlfriend Ashley quit their day jobs, planned futures, and daily paradigms to see as much of the world as they could. In 114 days, they trekked across 15 countries and 38 cities with nothing but their backpacks, their smartphones, and each other. Not Afraid of the Fall is the unvarnished story of their off-the-cuff journey: from cliff-jumping off Croatia's untouched coasts to bathing with rescued elephants in Thailand and far beyond.

Story
Hannah Brencher, TED Talk speaker and founder of The World Needs More Love Letters, thought Atlanta was her destination. Yet even after she arrived, she found herself in the same old chase for the next best thing…somewhere else. And it left her in a state of anxiety and deep depression. Our hyper-connected era has led us to believe life should be a highlight reel - where what matters most is perfect beauty, instant success, and ready applause. Yet, as Hannah learned, nothing about faith, relationships, or character is instant. So she took up a new mantra: be where your feet are.

Story
After losing her high-octane job as an entertainment blogger, Noelle Hancock was lost. About to turn 29, she'd spent her career writing about celebrities' lives and had forgotten how to live her own. Unemployed and full of self-doubt, she had no idea what she wanted out of life. She feared change - in fact, she feared almost everything. Once confident and ambitious, she had become crippled by anxiety, lacking the courage required even to attend a dinner party - until inspiration struck one day in the form of a quote on a chalkboard in a coffee shop.

Journeying along The Way
A deeply vulnerable, funny, and meaningful account of learning and growing along the trails of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage. I laughed, teared up, and smiled as I could imagine it all. It made me consider spiritual things which are woven through out lives, even in the mundane. To me, it felt like a love letter, and it was.

Excellent
This book took me right along the path with the author. It’s not the regular Camino book. Yes it tells about the places you see but there’s much more to it. I was undecided before listening but now I am definitely booking my flight!

A walk of awareness
It was a joy to walk with this young man through all of the experiences that he had and the self-awareness that he gained from all of that. I felt like I had walked along side of him and experienced some of the same things he did. Very well written and engaging.
