About this listen

My name is Wilhemina Jensen. I am one of the few people who survived when aliens first made contact.

“You cannot live on the food we have for you. That leaves me three choices: Let you continue to starve, slowly dying. Or put you out of your misery, and save the resources of feeding you for someone who has a chance to live.” The orc gave me a long, calculating look before he continued, “Or I can find you someone who is willing to spend his personal resources to care for a defective human.”

It wasn’t the invasion that made society fall, we did that all on our own. People panicked. The food supply chains broke down. We started fighting each other for the last loaf of bread or bag of flour. That was before I ever saw one of the orc-shaped aliens. One day at a time, concentrate on getting through today, worry about tomorrow if you got there. Be safe, be smart, be invisible. Take care of each other. And don’t forget to feed the cat.

I managed to hide for more than a year before they found me. I ended up living in a tent city set up in a school yard that felt like a human zoo for months when one of the orcs pulled me out of the food line. He and his friends fed me the first real meal I’d had in ages before sending me back to my tent. I wasn’t trying to attract attention, but the next thing I know, I’m getting special treatment. When I asked why, I didn’t like the vague answer I got about Romeo, Tybalt, Mac, and Iago deciding to keep me. I don’t know what they’re up to, and it’s hard to trust monsters at the end of the world.

Better than the first book

This story was much better than the first book. Found it to be more interesting; each Ork had own personality; main character was more a jerk and self absorbed than the aliens. Narrator was ok, she changed voices for female and male characters.

best second book I've ever listened to.

I love the narration and I enjoyed the story immensely. it had the greatest sense of humor between species. and how they all got along. you must listen to this story.

Great Narration, and the characters were good too!

Really not sure about the negative review about the FMC being ungrateful and all that. Perhaps they need to go back and listen again because she was pretty grateful for everything they did for her. This was a good continuation of the series. You find out more about the Orcs and why they came to Earth. Also, the struggles of the main female character.

I stumbled on this series by accident while waiting for another book to be released. I will continue on, if there is a third book.

Read the books, make up your own mind.

Solid story but not as fulfilling as I would like

The story end on a happy note but it was more of a decision on the FMC part to be content rather that a overwhelming love for her protectors. If you are looking for a HEA with major feels keep going. If you just would like to see another story in this universe then by all means grab this book. Excess credit worthy, not carefully rationed or treasured credit worthy.

The narrator was great. Soothing voice and did a bang up job on the male voices. Would definitely grad another book she reads.

Great stuff

If you wondered what it would be like if orcs came and destabilized society, here (and in the previous installment) is a slice of what life would be like. They are not real orcs, but an alien race which clashes with human culture in fascinating ways. Love this author!

Great story

When I started this series I wasn’t sure I would like it . Mistaken the first book caught my attention and I couldn’t put it down . I just wanted to mention in Mistaken someone commented that the female character cried a lot . But I saw was Normal reactions to abnormal situations ,a normal grieving process not overdone. (For example losing your home , friends and family. )Misconstrued I hesitated to buy because multiple partner books just don’t interest me. But since I liked the first book so much I decided to spend s credit . I am glad I did . The book was interesting, the characters developed And the relationships tastefully done. Waiting impatiently for the next book in the series maybe Joe’s story.

Good story with a new take on invasion and the after

The previous reviewer reported not liking the story and stopped reading assuring chapter 11. This story has 75 chapters. The FL is a terrified human who has survived an invasion and the collapse of society. When she is “bought” by 4 orc she is understandably terrified of what they want especially when rape has been a previous concern from both humans and orcs alike. This story explores the coming together when two worlds try to understand each other, and their unique cultures and attempt to begin rebuilding society. It is the second book in the series and I would have to say it’s my favorite so far.

invade me

After so many books on vamps and wolves this fresh look on sexy orcs is eye opening. I was jealous I was not in the camp grabbing me a few orcs. The author was able to create great characters with unique personalities that kept me listening. this is definitely on the re-read list!
