About this listen

He has tusks and a tail and insists she’s his fated mate. She’s enticed, but determined not to get involved. Can a burly alien warrior and a single mom find love together on a planet far from Earth?

Garek: With my clan threatened, I don’t have time for romance with a pesky Earth female. Until I meet Piper. She and her youngling son are part of our planet’s new settlement.

Soon, I find myself helping her plan her home and talking about odd Earthling activities. What is a square dance, and must I do it? She’s soft and lush in all the right places, and I could pick her up and carry her around with one arm. And her son…I ache to show him how to tame a mighty winged trundier. Piper may say she doesn’t need love, but I'll do whatever it takes to win her heart.

Piper: I brought my eight-year-old son to Ferlaern to start anew—the new Wild West, we’re calling this planet. The other women want romance, but not me. Then I meet Garek, a seven-foot-tall, gruff warrior who’s out to steal my heart. Burned in the past, I’m afraid to trust. Never mind that he makes my son laugh for the first time in forever or that his kisses…not going there. But when our settlement’s attacked by vicious creatures, it’ll take both of us to survive the threat.

Enticed by an Alien Warlord is book one in the Fated Mates of the Ferlaern Warriors Series. This standalone, full-length romance has heat, aliens who look and act alien, a guaranteed happily ever after, no cheating, and no cliffhanger.

Good story even with all the heat. There's always something or someone causing trouble. Love the characters. Narrator's were great and the Author has me hungering for bk 2. 💖

How can a space faring race have no technology?

Overall I do like the story, I am just wondering how a space faring race with interstellar communication and transportation has no technology. These guys live a totally primitive life but don't know what a video recording is, have no electricity and don't seem to even have any sort of personal communicators. Even our space faring ladies had tech before they lost pretty much all of it. I am also wondering why they never retrieved any of their stuff. There are just some loose ends that need tided up.

I like a steamy book, but there is a lot of inner monologue with not so much action. And how did the H learn all his sexy moves? Didn't all the women die out like 10 years ago? I am also unclear as to how many women there are, we don't get a much info on how bit their "colony" was supposed to be. I would just like to know more details then have been provided so far.

I do like the world building, living in the trees, and flying about on giant bugs. I'll move on to the next book and see if I can get some of my questions answered. This has been a pretty fun book.

Strange new world.

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: ☹️🙃😍
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The Story: two years ago a disease swept across Earth which killed most of the men. The women tried to go on, until an alien race made first contact. They came in peace, exchanging goods and technology. It seems that much of their female population had been wiped out so matches were made and mail order brides were sent out. It worked well, so another race, called the Ferlaern approached Earth stating that if human females came to settle on their planet, be courted by their men and when matches were made, the women would be taken care of.

The Hero: Garek - he and other clan leaders were in charge of building the settlement for the human females. The humans were encouraged to settle in the mountain region, but they insisted on constructing homes in the low region where they would be vulnerable. He hoped that the women would be wise and settle in the Ferlaern communities.

The heroine: Piper - she arrived on Ferlaern with her young son Noah and was named the leader of the group of humans. Back on Earth she had been abused by her husband, but when he turned on their son, Piper finally went to the police, but her husband John got out of jail and wanted revenge. Piper escaped by going to Ferlaern.

The Story: the Ferlaern had something called maelstrom mates, which haven’t happened in many years since before their females started dying out. They can mate females, but the maelstrom bond was something special. Garek is a clan leader but was intent on becoming a full warlord. Though warlords can’t have a maelstrom mate. A leader is challenged each cycle for leadership where a warlord is leader for the rest of his life.

The story was better than I expected from some of the other reviews I read. It had some thrills and chills, dangerous aliens and creatures. There was action and adventure, which I like in an alien romance. The world building was pretty good as well. Though I did think it was pretty funny that the women wanted to build a new wild west but when another alien race raided their camp, they were ready to leave. Have they never seen a western movie with cowboys and indians?

This book is told in dual points of view via dual narration and is narrated by Stephen Dexter and Felicity Munroe. These are both terrific narrators. Stephen has a deep, yet soft voice which is sexy and perfect for a tough male warlord. While Felicity has a clear feminine voice and she is great at expressing herself through her voice. She also does a kid’s voice very well.

Make Narrator Ruined it For Me

The male narrator’s female voice was so annoying that I couldn’t even finish the book. The story was ok. Not sure how it got so many 5 star reviews.

Pretty Good

I liked the storyline of this book; the way a child was woven into the story was cute. Lots of innocence and the ways of children and handling it was nice. The private thoughts of characters were quite amusing at times. Narrators did a great job with characters.

3 stars ⭐⭐⭐

Enticed by an Alien Warlord by Ava Ross is a decent sci-fi read with an appealing premise of fated mates and a unique tree-dwelling world. However, the predictability of the plot was evident from the start, focusing on the conflict between Garek's warlord status and his potential maelstrom mate. Garek is a likable character with admirable traits, while Piper, the heroine, didn't evoke strong feelings. The wild west theme on an alien planet felt a bit incongruous, though Piper's dedication as a mother was commendable. The interactions with her son and Garek were highlights, portraying a potential family dynamic. While it's a quick and easy read, the lack of depth and predictability make it a one-time experience, not a re-read for me, earning it a three-star rating.

Every "moonet" that the kid spoke was torture

I liked this story overall. The world-building was good and I was actually surprised by some things. The romance was definitely center stage but there was enough drama and action to keep the plot moving. it could have used a bit more spice for my taste, heh. I didn't love the male lead just slightly changing pronunciation of words. He said "moonet" instead of minute, "smythe" (rhymes with scythe) instead of smith, etc. sometimes it was played for laughs but the rest of the time, I think it was supposed to him speaking his alien language. it was weird and kind of annoying. Most probably won't mind it though.
I just couldn't stand the way Noah (FL's son) was written or acted. I think the author made him too dense and immature for his age. It was painful.
Noah was the only true weak point for the voice acting as well. I didn't love the male narrator's voice for him but the female voice actor's voice for Noah was *brutal*. She made him so whiny!! I was fast-forwarding past his lines.

Great…but…

I loved this story! It was original and romantic. I loved how strong of a woman the main character. She was an awesome Mom. I am very thankful that she got a new chance at love.
But the female narrator’s voice for the young son drove me crazy. It was so whiney!!!!!
