Good listen just not what I was after

The first couple chapters was more what I was hoping for but the last bit was just telling the episodes of shows.

Good listening!

This is a very informative, insightful book. A few wrong pronunciations, but still a good book!

Not what I expected

Not what I expected but that’s my own fault. I should have paid more attention to the title. The book is mostly an account of episodes of tv shows Landon was a part of. While that’s a nice walk down memory lane, it meant there was very little shared about Landon and his life outside of work. The recording needs some additional editing as well.

An Audible Listen Through Memory Lane

I have been a fan of Michael Landon since I was 10 years old and has a crush on Little Joe from Bonanza. I was looking for a biography or story of his life, which has been somewhat difficult to find. First of all this is Not a story about Michael Landon's life. It does give brief synopses of most of the episodes of the TV series he has done, Little House on the Prairie, Bonanza, Highway to Heaven, etc. I really enjoyed it, it's like going down memory lane and they do discuss interesting insights and special features related to various shows such as those that received special awards and episodes that Michael Landon particularly liked or didn't like, etc. The narrator was good and easy enough to listen to. I am planning to read a biography they suggested at the end called : Michael Landon: Life, Love, and Laughter. Unfortunately it is not available on kindle or Audible you can only find it either at the library or they have a few used copies for sale on Prime.

Michael Landon? = GREAT - Narrator? = Not So Much!

I loved Michael Landon growing up and wanted to hear more about him and his other achievements. This is the third book I've read/listened to about Michael and was really looking forward to it. The narrator, however, sounded like he would get paid more money the quicker he could get to the end of the story. Sentences ran together, he spoke so quickly sometimes I couldn't understand what he was saying and there didn't appear to be any "feelings" in his reading - even when it was a heartbreaking or endearing moment. I felt like I was at an auction. I wish I could say better things about the book, but I can't even remember most of it because it was read so quickly (I just finished it a week ago and waited to leave a review to see if I still felt the same way - and I do). I've never hit the rewind button so many times while listening to an audio book. The book also "skipped" places a time or two and a couple of times there were "repeats" (same sentence or part of sentence repeated). While this book is listed as 4.5 hours, it probably should have been at least 5.5 or maybe even 6.0 hours. It's probably really good in written format, but in audio format it's a difficult listen.

How a production legend spanned 5 decades.

Michael Landon was broadcast into our homes for over 5 decades, but most do not realize how much control he had over every aspect of his shows and career. From show creation to casting to cleanliness, Mr. Landon created family-friendly television and became a part of our shared history.

Just okay

Although I am a huge Little House fan, I found that this book leans more into being a list of the various episodes he starred in, wrote and directed, including brief plot summaries. It got boring actually,

Did not talk about anything personal

I really loved Michael Landon’s work. But they only dissected scripts and rein-acted old story lines from his various shows. I was disappointed in this selection. I didn’t learn anything about him I didn’t already know.
