About this listen

Nesta has met the perfect boy: good-looking, fun, sweet. But there are problems too. Simon's from a rich, upper-class background - with a lifestyle to match - and it's difficult for Nesta to keep up. And then there's Simon's friend Cressida. The ice queen. The Portobello Princess. Not one to give in, Nesta is determined to impress the new crowd, but finds herself out of her depth. Luckily she has Lucy and Izzie to help her reassess what really matters.

Editorial reviews

In the third book in Cathy Hopkins' Mates, Dates series, the beautiful half-Italian, half-Jamaican Nesta has fallen in love with Simon, a gorgeous boy from an upper-class London family with an expensive taste and lifestyle to which Nesta is not accustomed. She must also compete with Cressida, an equally wealthy childhood friend of Simon's, for his affections. Melissa Eccleston radiates generosity and sympathy while portraying Nesta's increasing neuroses as she attempts to fit in with Simon's wealthy lifestyle and win his heart, and her performance helps elevate this YA romance as it touches on issues regarding race, class, and self-esteem.
