With few troops, no supplies, little foreknowledge and all the problems of a winter campaign, Fronto and Caesar face a monumental struggle, yet they know they must win for the prize in this campaign is nothing less than control of the republic itself. Rome hangs in the balance.

Fantastic series

Hard job writing this series at this historical period. It’s historical fiction. If you’ve read source material you have had to make many judgments. I enjoy the characters developed and enjoy the work of Malk Williams. I will listen to this book several times. I’m retired and basically bedridden. A guilty pleasure that keeps my mind occupied. I spent years reading and listening to none fiction on the time period. Hard to really know much solid history in this the best document period of Roman history but most of the book fits events. It’s just fun for me. If you enjoy historical fiction this is a wonderful series.

Another enjoyable listen.
