About this listen

Mercenary Kate Daniels knows all too well that magic in post-Shift Atlanta is a dangerous business. But nothing she’s faced could have prepared her for what’s to come in this heart-stopping novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling series.

Kate and the former Beast Lord Curran Lennart are finally making their relationship official. But there are some steep obstacles standing in the way of their walk to the altar.

Kate’s father, Roland, has kidnapped the demigod Saiman and is slowly bleeding him dry in a never-ending bid for power. A Witch Oracle has predicted that if Kate marries the man she loves, Atlanta will burn and she will lose him forever. And the only person Kate can ask for help is long dead.

The odds are impossible. The future is grim. But Kate Daniels has never been one to play by the rules...

Adapted from the novel and produced with a full cast of actors, immersive sound effects and cinematic music!

Best one yet.

LOVE this series! This one is my favorite thus far. Sad there is only one book left. Graphic audio/audible gonna need y'all to get dramatized adaptions for every single one of Ilona Andrews books, please and thank you.

Plot twists and battles and snarky banter!

The Kate Daniels series is amazing!! This story continues the Kate’s ongoing challenge to survive her father and his machinations. More is revealed about some of my favorite characters. In between the attacks and battles, there is the ongoing relationships between Kate and Curran. Plus so much witty, snarky dialogue.

This book, like many of Ilona Andrews’ books, made me laugh out loud, cringe, gasp, and even cry. I can’t wait to listen to it again.

As amazing as the story is the narration takes it to an even higher level. The GraphicAudio productions are so well done. The multicast narration allows for conversations that are just not possible with a single narrator. The whole cast of narrators is so talented. Plus the added music and sound effects make the audiobook an immersive experience. Highly recommend!!

Favorite In Series

Read on Ilona Andrews's website that this was their favorite book to write, and I have to say this is my favorite book of the series so far. It took 1st place from the book where Kate is trapped in Mishmar. Eagerly looking forward to the final installment in this series!

Bk 9 of 10- two steps forward, one step back

Book 9 of 10 heralds the end of the series. You won’t get as much out of this book unless you’ve read the prior books (at least 1, 3, 4, 6, and 7). For those who worked their way through, this is where the payoffs start to happen. Lots of eggs planted as far back as book 1 start to crack open(“meow”) and the resulting omelette is delicious and satisfying.

“You’re like a cat lady, except you collect killers instead of cats.”
As expected, much of this book sets up the finale. We see some new plots (Roland’s assassin squad) and get to know some side characters better (I wouldn’t have thought I’d like Vohlv Roman so much). The set up for Book 10 is a bit slow and frustrating. In dealing with the side effects of claiming Atlanta; Kate’s head isn’t in the best place and both she and Curran fall back into the pitfall of keeping secrets, with typically unnecessary angst as a result. Lots of internal exposition on Kate’s fears and where Kate’s family’s come from and why. We start to get some answers about the nature of their family legacy.

Aside from the final battle, which is stupendous, this book shines the most when familiar characters interact, especially in the humorous scenes surrounding the wedding plans or in the character reveals (Julie’s true nature, Christopher’s past and his run in with Teddy, especially). I would have preferred less Kate-centered story and more focus on the rest of the characters, especially as we draw to a close.

This is also a good time to read Iron and Magic, which explains what happened to Hugh D’Ambre, and sets up a side path on the way to Book 10. Plus, the different narrator really brings the real Hugh to life. It’s like Kate Daniels meets the movie 300, only with Hugh screaming “Iron Dogs” instead of “Sparta!”

Went through these way to fast

Loved all of these books in this series. Absolutely love Nora's voice and all the narrator's. I wouldn't change anything. I got lucky I found these Graphic audios in another app Chirp made it so I did not break the bank listening to these once I was grabbed. Now I am sad. I have to wait for more. I have listened to them all. And they were done very well. So glad I stumbled upon their Sweep series which led me to Kate Daniels series. There is never a dull moment. These authors keep me interested the whole time. I can not say that about 95% of the books I read. Now I will have to drudge reading hundreds of books again to find another author I can praise about. Well with these books is actually 2 authors. So maybe I should say 94% lol again LOVED every narrator their voices perfect. None of the voices made me cringe or feel like my ear buds were broken. No letter S or T made me twitch my eye. I miss a few good story's because of that S and T sound problem. If I turn my buds down then I can not hear as well. I end up not finishing even when it's a decent book but yeah this whole series was awesome. No regrets. The thought process and imagination is well worth it. Going to miss the cast. Till next time. Thank you for a great listen

EXCELLENT - Story and Audio Dramatization

I have read the books, listened to the regular audio versions and have to say that this GA version of Book 9 is excellent. The story is of course great, but the GA audio really brings it to life. As I listen to it, the different voices, background sounds and emotions conveyed, it really is like a movie for the mind. I see it as I listen. Wonderful adaptation.
