About this listen

USA Today Best-Selling Author and Agatha Award-Winning Series

The Charleston streets are dressed for the holidays in sophisticated Southern style: topiaries adorned with red ribbons, garland entwined with white lights, and poinsettias potted in gold planters. The high-class bordello in a stately historic home is certainly no exception. When Private Investigator Liz Talbot's dear friend, Olivia, swears she saw a dead body in the parlor of this bordello, one Olivia accidentally co-owns, Liz promptly comes to her aid.

With her wedding back home on Stella Maris less than a week away, Liz must juggle one elderly madam, two ex and future in-laws, three ghosts in the bordello, four giddy bridesmaids, five lovely courtesans, six suspicious patrons...and a partridge in a pear tree as she tries to keep her bridesmaid out of jail and live to walk down the aisle.

"The authentically Southern Boyer writes with heart, insight, and a deep understanding of human nature." (Hank Phillippi Ryan, Agatha Award-winning author of What You See)

Delightfully funny

Always a cute, quick read. This book takes Liz right before she is to get married and the story goes from there. Delightfully funny while still keeping the reader interested.

I'm addicted to this series!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Definitely. Wonderfully written, interesting and a fun cozy read.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes!

Have you listened to any of Loretta Rawlins’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The climax when they were finally married

Any additional comments?

Living in South Carolina, just an hour south along the coast from Charleston, I love and can totally picture where Ms. Boyer takes us. Liz is a fantastic, likable, HUMAN character. she's made mistakes, isn't perfect and her and her partner make the perfect private detective partnership.

I enjoyed the seasonal setting and descriptions of the decorations, homes, downtown Charleston and Stella Maris. Finally these two lovebirds get married and it's fun to see them juggle getting ready for a wedding and working a case.

The plot was great, and Ms. Boyer writes flawlessly. everything just flows. I had such a tough time stopping for the night.

This series, which started out wonderfully just keeps getting better and better!!

I can't WAIT to see what the next adventure brings! I completely recommend this series to lovers of cozies. It had me laughing while still trying to figure out whodunit!

wedding bells and a mystery

Even though I've read this entire series, listening to them is so entertaining! Nate and Liz are tying the knot but not before they solve their newest mystery. I feel as if I am a new member to this wildly hilarious family and I can't wait to hear the next book in the Nate/Liz saga.
