About this listen

One small town, cinnamon roll firefighter + One former best friend back after moving away with a sick mom + One heart-of-the-town cafe = A sizzlingly sweet and tasty clean short romance!

After years apart, Jenna returns to her small hometown of Lake Hill following her mother’s passing, ready to rebuild her life. She never expected to run into Charlie, her best friend from high school—and the boy she secretly loved. Charlie, now a dedicated firefighter, has spent years thinking about Jenna, especially after seeing his friends settle down. When a fire at his parents’ café brings them together in more ways than one, old feelings resurface and ignite something undeniable between them.

But with their past friendship on the line, and Jenna just getting back on her feet, they both have to decide if love is worth the risk.

A heartwarming and sweet small-town romance about rediscovering love, finding home, and never letting go of the ones who truly matter.

Jenna
My return to Lake Hill took four years too long, but I'm here now and I can't wait to get back to the little life I left behind.

First stop is the town's staple and my best friend's parents' cafe. Charlie and I worked together before I had to move and it was probably a good thing since I had some major feelings building...and not the best friend kind.

I can't wait to see my best friend again. I just have to make sure my heart doesn't try to ask for more again.

Charlie
She left for her grandma's in a neighboring town four years ago when her dad passed in a car accident and her mother still needed care for her health condition, but now she's back.

We were best friends. That is until that game of spin the bottle changed things. For me at least. I never forgot the way that kiss made me feel.

And now she's back, and I'm only missing one thing in my little small town life: the love of my life.

This is a clean bite sized romance.

Meh

I thought this looked cute but to be honest the virtual voice ruined it for me. You never knew who was talking. I think this could've been better. The writing was very juvenile as well.

Meh

This was a cute and quick little read. A pallet cleanser if you will, especially after all the thrillers I’ve read the past few days. This was a small town cutesy romance between 2 best friends and how they fall for each other slowly. It felt like a Hallmark movie and I loved how it ended too. The title was also fun to me cuz the male main character is a firefighter so Love Burns makes me laugh knowing that fact. But the voice used for the book was bland and boring to me so while I appreciated the story, this is only like a 3 star review for me unfortunately.

Short and sweet

Nothing like childhood friends reuniting and discovering there’s more to life than what they have. This was short and sweet and, even though it was read with a virtual voice, it was very enjoyable.
