Publisher's summary

When a jealous scheme by her younger sister Mary goes awry, Elizabeth Bennet finds herself locked in a room at the Netherfield Ball with the last man she'd ever want to be trapped with.

In a desperate attempt to escape the compromising situation, Mr. Darcy lifts Elizabeth to an open window. But their hopes of secrecy are shattered when they are caught in a scandalous embrace, forcing them into a hasty marriage neither desires.

Burdened by long-held prejudices and meddling family members, Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet must learn to overcome their differences and find common ground if they hope to achieve a love as unforgettable as their less-than-fairytale beginning...

This novel features Mr. Collins, Lady Catherine de Bourgh, Jane Bennet, Mr. Bingley, Mr. Wickham, Lydia Bennet, Mary Bennet and a slow burn love story between Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet.

meh, lots of literary errors

there are several times where whole paragraphs or conversations we simply repeated (probably and error in the PDF). The worst was in chapter 18 where there was a full 4minute repeat. it was an okay retelling, all characters were in their vein, there was no smut, but there was also very little of villainy that makes most of the love stories compelling. it was light hearted listening, but I won't be revisiting it.

Fizzled in the end

Good story, in the beginning. Kind of fizzled in the end. Jane made the wrong choice. Lydia’s folly was rushed, and could have been left out.

I can live with the AI

what I can't live with, apart from audible not being able to get a decent program to accept dictation in the reviews. specifically, why can't it detect that a period means the next word should start with a capital letter? to continue, what just about drives me crazy in all of these Pride and Prejudice variations is the ridiculous use of phrases from the future, from past 1812, that are used in these Jane Austen fan attempts. rolling one's eyes only met something and acknowledgment of some sort of sexual activity until 1950. moving on is not appropriate in one of these books. and recharging! there were not batteries then. recharging was used in 1000 ad. but it meant charging into battle again. I really wish people cared enough to at least cleanse the manuscripts of these anachronisms

Thanks, Mary

Mary locked Elizabeth in a dark room with Darcy and they were found - now considered compromised. Nothing to do but marry.
Turned out well. Mrs. Bennett and Lydia are as disgusting and embarrassing as usual. Someone needs to slap them.
Virtual voice needs work. In this production there are mispronunciations and repetitions.

This book could have been soooo much better.

Maybe a human narrator could have given life to this story. AI was a disservice to this story.
Better analogies realistic to the time period would have been appreciated.

Needs Editing

The rustling leaves, clip-clopping horses, resolute expressions, and smell of flowers wafting through the story and the golden morning sun were only eclipsed by the repetitive ideas in successive paragraphs that graced this story. Chapter 18 has several paragraphs that are duplicated. While being locked in a room is a familiar trope, Mary Bennet's involvement and reason for her behavior is unique. However, instead of developing that idea, the author takes us through a parade of tropes that only serve to add to the word count. I was very disappointed and forced myself to finish.
This was a book that needed an editor to review it.
Virtual Voice gave a decent performance.
