About this listen

Trying to put past hurts behind you is hard when your ex is a fool, but buoyed by child support and alimony, Jo Walker is moving forward with her life, pursuing a career, raising her little girl, and trying to live in peace. She believes she has all the bases covered in her world. But what about her heart?

Rap legend Everett "Big South" McClain is divorced, too, knows all about failed relationships, and has relegated his love life to casual connections rather than pursuing something real. That is, until he lays eyes on Jo.

She's exactly what he never knew he needed.

He's what's been missing from her world.

Will she accept what he has to offer and let him love her?

Contains mature themes.

An all in love story

When I think back on Jo and Ev, I’m going to think of that moment when you know you found your person and it was everything.

The odds were against these two. Multifaceted pasts that would normally push others away, but for this couple, it drew them in.

I loved how Alexandria House made Jo and Ev friends. The learning of each other through phone calls and texts led to moments and eventually a committed relationship with all the uninhibited sex.

Dressing rooms will never be the same.

The narration is stellar by Jakobi Diem and Adenrele Ojo. The story had a few bumps, but the tale of love and living were woven very well.

Good-ish

I liked the characters and the narrators. I don't love crass words, though, and ended up getting slightly turned off by that. I ended up quitting.

Exciting from beginning to the end!

This book had a great and familiar story line! It kept me intrigued from beginning to the very end! There were many times you felt all the emotions of its characters and often found yourself saying “ WHAAAT!” I loved the raw, and realness of the love story between Everett and Jo. Looking forward to reading more stories by Alexandria!

I loved it!

I usually read reviews, but rarely write any. However, I felt compelled to share my thoughts after listening to this phenomenal book. This title was my introduction to Alexandria House, Jakobi Diem, and Adenrele Ojo. What an awesome combination of talent! The narrators were able to bring the story to life. I was drawn in from the very beginning of the book and found myself impatiently waiting for the end of the workday so that I could continue listening to the story. I loved the characters and the storyline. In fact, I bought the next books in the series before getting through the first half of this one. I also sent a gift of this title to a friend who ended up purchasing the next 2 titles, as well. Bravo, Ms. House. You've created a story that evokes many emotions, including sadness, anger, happiness, and joy. I thoroughly enjoyed Everett and Jo's love story. Even at 11 hours, I wasn't ready to leave them. I'm glad I found this book and I'll be listening to the story again. Thank you!
