About this listen

Falling in love in a small town is tricky. Falling in love with the man who's putting you out of business is trickier.

Leslie Baker, owner of Potter Lake's original hometown beauty shop, the Curl & Dye, has a muscular, handsome, six-foot-four-inch problem. Her college sweetheart, former basketball superstar Kade "KC" Cavanaugh, is back in Potter Lake following his NBA retirement, and the shop he's opened, a slick and shiny coed salon, directly competes with Curl & Dye.

Despite the "friendly" competition, KC is all too eager to pick things up where they left off so many years ago, but Leslie can't forget how he pushed her away after an intimate encounter, then dropped out of college and left her behind for the bright lights of professional ball.

Though she won't admit it, time and maturity have eaten away at Leslie's anger, and her long-buried attraction to Kade Cavanaugh has resurfaced. With a vengeance.

And then there's the problem of the two sides of Potter Lake at war and the town on the verge of destruction at the hands of a crook. Leslie and KC find themselves in the center of this citywide drama, and with their livelihoods at stake, the two have to stop sniping at each other and start working together. But first...can they forget the past, forgive each other, and revive what was once a budding romance?

Excellent read.

Interesting characters with great repartee and wonderful humor. It had everything and I love the political backdrop.

Yes!!!

I like the story. I was putting it off, but I listened. I’m glad it wasn’t the typical drama of certain insecurities. But outside drama and very relatable. Kudos to the author as well as the narrator!!!!

Potter Lake Is Giving Me All The Feels!!!

I love the simplicity of Leslie's Curl & Dye. KC and Leslie was able to get past their issues and move forward with their relationship. I loved me some Tamera. You gotta love a good girlfriend that'll go hard for you but, damn she was all in Leslie's business. She was taking some things way too personal that had me asking is Leslie her BFF or her chic?!!! I'm just glad she finally found a boo and climbed out of Kade and Leslie's business. I sure hope this series doesn't end with The Guy Next Door. I mean, I liked Evonne but, I didn't think she was a popular enough character to merit her own book. I really hope TC gets a book. I would love to see her get her HEA. I am loving The Potter Lake series. I can't wait to dive into book two.

Loved it!

This book for me was refreshing!
I read alot of urban novels. Some are very gritty and then there are some that's so unrealistic! Not this book. it was so wholesome and realistic. Really meaning. Coming from a small town I could relate to the issues at hand. Loved it.
hopefully there is a part 2!

My favorite by far!!!

Yes indeed!!!!!! I have truly enjoyed this story of perseverance, ownership, teamwork and strength!!! (APPLAUDING). TC loyalty to KC, the all hands on deck mentality of friends and coworkers for both KC & Leslie corners are beautiful at best!!

Come on DL, gimmie someone of these folks!!!

I love the love in this story!

Every kind of love was represented: love for community, family, spouse, and self. It was a little slow at the start for me, but once I was in it, I just had to listen more. I enjoyed it.

Loved it!!!

Growing up in a small town makes me partial to stories with a small town backstory. That also means, I won't tolerate a bad one. This listen was good! In all it's small-town majesty, I loved it.

This is a great romantic story and we all know there is an HEA on the horizon. What I loved and enjoyed most about this story was how real the characters were. I felt like I knew them!! That could also be because the narration was impressive, as well.

This story could have easily gone to "sappytown" but the author penned and the narrator performed, a fantastic, multi-faceted exploration into the "what if's" and "why not's" that encompasses a good love struggle. There were quite a few characters in the supporting cast that also gave this story its richness. I really did enjoy Potter Lake, in all its glory.

Great

I really liked this book and would recommend it . It had a great storyline and sexual storylines. I liked how it hit on corrupt officials and people making them accountable and get them out the office.

I'm glad they got together and he went back to school. But I did think it was bad in the end that Leslie took the baby saying he needed to study and then came back to interrupt his studies with candy, move night and sex.
