In Victorian England, gossip is often as precious as gold. But the Highlanders are a more mysterious bunch. And if anyone found out what Stephen MacAlasdair really was, he'd be hunted down, murdered, his clan wiped out. As he's called to London on business, he'll have to be extra vigilant - especially between sunset and the appearance of the first evening star.
Mina just wanted to find out more about the arrogant man who showed up in her employer's office. Some might say it was part of her job. She never thought the stranger would turn into a dragon right in front of her. Or that he'd then offer her an outrageous sum of money to serve as his personal secretary. Working together night and day to track a dangerous enemy, Mina comes to see a man in love is more powerful and determined than any dragon.

Perhaps it was the writing style, combined with the old-fashioned dialogue, as well as a big splash of the narrator's personal style of conveying dialogue, but so much of this story just floated in one ear and out the other.
The narrator is good, don't get me wrong. His accents are superb. But something in his tone and delivery just became background noise rather than actual words to pay attention to.
Anyway, its not a bad book. Not a bad author or narrator, I don't think. Just a bit difficult to hold my attentiin sadly.
Difficult to engage with the story

Any additional comments?
I had high hopes for this book because I like dragon shifter books. The hero, Stephan, and the heroine, Mina, met on the very first page. I've read 61 pages and there's no sign of any attraction: no thought, no word, nothing. So, I'm thinking that if there's going to be any kind of sensuality it's going to be sudden and over with real fast. Not my kind of book. I think, after reading Dragon Bound, all dragon books will be just as good as that one but I'm so wrong. Anyway, I'm sorry but I'm done with this book.
And besides that, I have no real idea what the two look like, except he has golden eyes. The descriptions are terrible!
As for the narrator: As usual the male narrators don't do a very good job on the female voices, but at least he tried, even if he didn't succeed. IMO
And I had to change the speed to 1.25 because he reads very slow.
Too bored to finish..
