Publisher's summary

Whether the issue of the day on Twitter, Facebook, or cable news is our sexuality, political divides, or the perceived conflict between faith and science, today's media pushes each one of us into a frustrating clash between two opposing sides. Polarizing, us-against-them discussions divide us and distract us from thinking clearly and communicating lovingly with others.

Scott Sauls, like many of us, is weary of the bickering and is seeking a way of truth and beauty through the conflicts. Jesus Outside the Lines presents Jesus as this way. Sauls shows us how the words and actions of Jesus reveal a response that does not perpetuate the destructive fray. Jesus offers us a way forward - away from harshness, caricatures, and stereotypes.

So Pertinent Today

I almost passed on this one even though it was included with membership. I'm so glad I took a chance, and all I can say is "amen" to all of it. As a practicing Catholic grandma, I say, hats off to Scott Sauls.

Amazing book, a must read!

We need to learn and re learn how to treat each other better, not only because it is nice but because that is the way of a true follower of Jesus.
This book is an amazing book of hope for those who wants to look at the world around us thru the eyes of Jesus.

Interesting look at Jesus

The author tells good stories of himself and what he has learned in showing the ways we see Jesus. He gives us a chance to see Jesus in different ways.

The narration is a very good match with the book.

Not Complex, But solid and timely.

Sauls leads us through what I wish were an over-familiar and wholly boring set of observations. But sadly, the very basic spiritual lessons here have been lost by evangelicalism, inc. This is theological milk, not meat. So it’s appropriate for those of us in the anglophone world 2021, a culture where even believers have lost their spiritual moorings and memory. The reading here is a bit soulless and slow. I listened at 1.5x and had no trouble keeping up.

I loved this book, he hit on a lot of things I needed to hear and didn't want to hear but it was worth it. I may just read it again.

Pick this book!

Everything I've ever tried to teach my kids about living right loving others loving God and loving their own self and life is taught in this book.

It is the common sense Christians lack when applying the Good Book to others.

Convicting & Refreshing

Admittedly, I am a huge fan of Pastor Scott. His way of exposing our prejudices against others, covering up our own sins, in neglecting the mission of the gospel is convicting and yet gracious. Furthermore, his exhortation to love others is communicated with humility and intellectual integrity.

Pulls you out of the dichotomy of today's world

Today's world is so oppressive with making everyone choose between two completely imperfect sides then harshly judge you for whichever side you choose. Scott leads you out of a no win situation and onto the path of Jesus.
