Publisher's summary

At forty years old, a successful writer, husband and father, no longer toiling on offshore drilling rigs, was Paul Carter happily nestled in the cotton wool of suburban life enjoying the fruits of his labour? Was he f**k!

With his manic life left far behind and the perfect opportunity to take it easy stretched before him what else would a middle-aged, bike obsessed, man want? Yes, that's right, he'd want to be the first guy to ride around Australia on an underpowered experimental motorcycle that runs on used cooking oil, wouldn't he? Preferably without getting hit by a semi-trailer full of bridge parts. Is he out of his mind? Quite possibly. Carter is back to his old balls-to-the-wall style of writing, prepare to laugh out loud.

Paul Carter rocks

I enjoyed it. Interesting story about a guy circumnavigating Australia on a motorcycle that runs on used cooking oil. What's not to love.

Aussies are nuts

Mr. Carter did a wonderful job both writing and narrating this book. Great insight into the Australian mind and way of doing things. I found myself laughing quite a few times listening to this and I have to praise him for his tenacity for actually going through what he did.

You won't be disappointed.

Another hit for Paul Carter

If you could sum up Is That Thing Diesel? in three words, what would they be?

A funny story

What did you like best about this story?

Carters battle with the cockroach and his very australian voice and reactions

Have you listened to any of Paul Carter’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, but don't think this is as good as "Don't Tell My Mum I Work on the Rigs"

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Do not listen to this book while drinking in public or someone will get covered in drink and spittle

Any additional comments?

I was dissapointed at the start of the book. I thought it was a big let down and not as funny as "Don't Tell My Mum I Work on the Rigs". But it soon picked up and I was again a very happy boy for purchasing this one

Another entertaining Carter Tale

The raw unapologetic aspect to Carter's writing is rather appealing in an age of political correctness. While this is not my favourite Carter the same familiar style continues with many more funny tales about the absurd trip down under on vegie oil.
