Publisher's summary
"Into My Hands" is an intimate and inspiring memoir that delves into the life of a passionate midwife, tracing her path from childhood to her fulfilling career in midwifery. This poignant narrative was born from a transformative moment in the author's early twenties, following a traumatic birth experience with her own daughter. It was then that she resolved to put an end to birth trauma and dedicate her life to supporting women during the sacred journey of childbirth.
With a background as a labor and delivery nurse and a nurse-midwife, she embarked on a remarkable journey to achieve her mission. In her role, she went above and beyond to provide comfort, aid, and unwavering reassurance to mothers in their birthing moments. "Into My Hands" is not only a personal account but also a tribute to the countless mothers she had the privilege to work with, as they generously share their own unique birth stories.
This memoir beautifully captures the profound impact of having a midwife's skilled and caring hands present during childbirth. It's a testament to the strength, resilience, and the incredible bond that forms between midwives and the women they serve. Through this book, listeners will gain a deep appreciation for the transformative power of compassionate care during one of life's most extraordinary experiences.

These days, no one in America feels immune to violence. But now, in this extraordinary, groundbreaking book, the nation's leading expert on predicting violent behavior unlocks the puzzle of human violence and shows that, like every creature on earth, we have within us the ability to predict the harm others might do us and get out of its way. I didn’t want this book to end…
Listening to Katherine’s story of midwifery through her sweet voice brought me to tears many times though out this book. Emotions of fear and traumas of my own birth story were brought to my emotional surface, as I know there are so many that feel the same way, with not so happy memories. Her words healed my wounds and made me sad that I didn’t have her guidance 20 years ago- how different my birth story and memories could possibly be today. I truly believe with all my heart and soul everything happens for a reason, and I mean EVERYTHING !
I was meant to hear this story. I couldn’t recommend this book enough to all Mamas to be or have been , or even the Papas out there too.
With tears in my eyes, Thank you for healing something in me by sharing your story 💛

Heartfelt with authentic emotions and stories!
It's amazing that the author actually reads her own book. I ordered the book, read it, and then realized that I could download the audiobook version with the author herself narrating the story. I jumped at the opportunity! Listening to it on audiobook, I caught many more details and emotions that I didn't notice the first time. Shields takes you on an emotionally joyous journey, leaving you inspired and ready to make difference in the life of woman!
