About this listen
Celeste is devastated when she learns of her arranged marriage to the notorious Ferrante degli Spini. Raised in a convent by the esteemed Sister Assunta, she has little contact with the outside world. Moved by love for her ward, the crafty nun convinces Celeste's only friend, Valentina, to assume the identity of the bride.
Marriage to the harsh nobleman poses difficult challenges. Ferrante's friend and mentor, the fascinating Prince Raimondo di Sangro, offers the naïve Valentina valuable insight on how to overcome these obstacles. Although she accepts his advice, an unexpected betrayal threatens to ruin her life.
Set in Naples, Italy during the Age of Enlightenment, Impostor embodies the passion, drama, and vibrancy that is Bella Napoli.

Wonderful!
C. De Melo sure knows how to pull your heartstrings! This one has so many emotions and I loved reading about the herbs they used to treat the sick.Jenn Lee is a fantastic narrator! She can bring out the personality of the characters with her voice. I didn’t want this one to end.

What an excellent listen!
From the story to the narration, I was hooked right away.
The story continued to improve as the characters developed.
Overall, I was pleased with the unpredictability and clever writing. However, the narration was spot on!
I couldn’t have asked for a more intelligent and interesting historical novel.
I look forward to more from this author and narrator.

A Novel Set in the Kingdom of Naples
Impostor: A Novel Set in the Kingdom of Naples hooked me with its synopsis. The story started off fast paced and then in the middle it slowed down a bit, but picked up near the end. I enjoyed the story for the most part except a found it got a little boring in the middle but overall a enjoyable listen. I also liked the settings and history of the characters. I was happy with the ending.
Told in third person pov narrator Jenn Lee inflection fit the story. Her ability to change her tone based on the characters was excellent.
Overall, a entertaining historical romance listen.

twists and turns
Celeste was a selfish master manipulator to the very end of the story and karma was her reward. Val deserved better than two vixens and and arrogant lord, but she rose above it all and karma followed her to the end. I almost despaired of Val finding true happiness, because she sacrificed constantly for others. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job bringing it to life.

Impostor is addictive!
Let me start by saying I could not stop listening to this book. I finished it in less than 48 hours.
Valentina is such a lovable character. She is intelligent and witty with a touch of feminism, which I loved, especially for the time period this book was set in. I really appreciated that the author took Valentina's character above and beyond just an average woman in love.
I have read several C de Melo's books and she never disappoints. I enjoy that there's always a twist or two in her stories and the listener's attention is never lost.
The narrator did a great job of give each character their own special voice.
I really liked the ending of this book and would love for it to become a series!!
