Publisher's summary

Immortality sucks.

Just ask Imogen Gray—over two hundred thousand years old and teetering on the edge of total insanity.

All throughout history, she's been hunted by an ancient creature who finds her and rips her to pieces every time she dares to access her deepest powers. But Imogen always regenerates. Slowly. Painfully.

She's on a mission to find answers. She's almost found them.

Unfortunately for her, there's a delinquent psychic kid, a dangerously hot Vampire King, and a power-crazed blood witch hell-bent on bringing about the apocalypse standing in her way.

Amazing Narration & Tough FMC

Imogen, the main character in this story, sure packs a punch! I have read many Urban Fantasy books in the last several years, but not about someone who is truly immortal! The author displays a lot of creativity with the things Imogen goes through, proving she is indeed-immortal. She comes off as a stand-offish person in the beginning, but since she is so old, it is almost expected since she has seen and been through so much. It was nice to see she grew as a person in regards to her young ward and working more as a team eventually. I enjoyed learning about many magical creatures that are new to me, plus, there are a lot of action scenes in this book and no romance, so I can see it appealing to different readers.

The narrator had a smooth voice which was easy to listen to. She added emotion and inflection when needed and spoke with a great pace as well! Definitely hope she narrates the rest of the series.

5 stars

Immortal is a well written and well developed story with an imaginative and creative plot. I really enjoyed the story and the characters. I look forward to more Imogen Gray stories.

Great Book

I read the books and couldn’t wait for the audio. At first I wasn’t too fond of the narrator’s voice, but she definitely grew on me through out the story. Can’t wait to listen to book 2.

Fresh and exciting new series!!! Yay!

This story follows Imogen, a true immortal that truly cannot die. No matter how hard she tries or how damaged her body gets. She originally searches for her father who holds the key to mortality, but it quickly evolves to trying to stop a blood witch from opening the gates of hell. You follow along with Imogens POV throughout the book and you really get to see what she’s made of. She may be immortal, but she is NOT powerful in the ways of other paranormal creatures you tend to read about. She has almost human limitations- and could very well be considered a human if it wasn’t for her not being able to die and being born at the dawn of humanity. Along the way she meets a vampire who I can see a love start to brew and a 12 year old kid who’s just adorable. I loved every side character! They really compliment Imogen in some way.

I was super invested in this story! I loved the way the author stayed true to Imogens Character throughout the book, never straying into those terrible tropes I hate. THIS is the type of protag I LOVE reading about!!! She was strong willed, but not an angry brat that argues against her own safety. She knows she can’t die, but that doesn’t make her do stupid things. And she’s funny! Her sense of humor is dry and I love that! I can’t wait for Boom 2, I’m preordering it right now! And I’m excited to see what blooms in the relationships of those around her, including the vampire.

Lauretta H - thank you for breaking out of the typical TikTok trope nightmare that so many authors are stuck in! I really needed a story like this to get out of book slump. I listened in a day, I couldn’t stop! Which is very very rare for me (I mean just look at my review history lol). Such a breath of fresh air.

My one and only complaint that’s not so much a complaint is the narrator. I got used to her as I kept listening but please pick better narrators! There are a couple series by this author that I previously purchased that are simply narrated terribly. To the point where I just can’t. I’m not saying this narrator was as bad, but you can do better for sure. :)

it's all awesome!

I'm on bk 2, & in both there r always surprises. so far I'm loving this series! the narrator does a fantastic job. I always know who's talking just by her different voices. I'm so excited to finally listen to a series that I'm totally into. the main character is badass w no whining. she isn't a happy person, but she isn't whiny about it. I love the characters & their development. u come to care about them all, even the priest, lol. so if u like a lot of mysteries, great character development, some suspense & a slow burn u won't be disappointed in this bk.
