About this listen

Joanne Baldwin is a Weather Warden. Usually, all it takes is a wave of her hand to tame the most violent weather. But now, she's trying to outrun another kind of storm: accusations of corruption and murder. So, she's resorting to the very human tactic of running for her life.... Her only hope is Lewis, the most powerful warden known. Unfortunately, he's stolen not one but three bottles of Djinn - making him the most wanted man on earth. Still, she's racing hard to find him - before the bad weather closes in fast.

Interesting and fun

This is an original take on the urban fantasy genre with Weather Gins. It has a strong start for a series and piqued my interest. The narration is wonderful and I plan on listening to the rest of the series.

Mediocre Wind.

The story was okay, I liked it but I didn't get very excited about it. First off I am not a fan of flashbacks, and this book is full of them. Secondly she keep referring to her car as if it was a sentient being. I understand naming your car and all but it was over the top, then she keep destroying them. Although there wasn't much sex the main character seemed to lust after everybody and has a weird flash back to when she first got felt up and lost her virginity, two separate events. It did not add to the story and who cares anyway. Also everybody was good looking to a point that I started to expect a great looking person every time someone new was introduced. I won't be reading the next book, while this story is okay I think I will skip the rest of the series. Narrator was not too bad but at times when there was action she would read at the same pace as the rest of the book, which made those parts dull instead of exciting.

Good fun and fast listening

This was one of the books I bought through audible sale. And as recommended it was a very entertaining read. I really don't need "hot steamy" sex in my urban fantasy books, which seems to be almost mandatory these days. Even though this book does have sexy scenes, it's not overwhelming nor excessive which was a big plus for me. Also the story was straight forward, easy to understand and the main character likable.

Unlike the other urban fantasy novels I read, Joanne is not an ass kicking "the best" weather warden ever. She needs help and gets it from a very attractive djinn named David. One thing I can say is that their romance is bit too hastely made. I mean I can see the attraction, appreciation, guilt and all that emotion jumbled together, but from that chaotic feeling to "true love" in several days? That was too convenient and quick.

The ending was something I didn't expect and I would like to read more in this series. I found it is actually a series with a nice ending (book 9) so now I have to go hunt more.

I recommend this series for anyone who likes a fun easy urban fantasy with a bit of romance!

wow what a ride

This is a good story and unfolds the way one does. The characters get you invested just like the story that unfolds. It makes you wonder and strings you along and helps you put it all together. And when you feel like all hope is lost you find strength and an all together new option...bring in book 2. I look forward to continuing the journey.

Great story

If you could sum up Ill Wind in three words, what would they be?

Thoroughly enjoyed this one. It was a random pick for me. It's one of those books you can't put down.

An entertaining listen . . .

The story's fast-paced and entertaining. The narrator is superb, and that's a help, too. This author takes a fresh approach to material that's been touched on before. Her heroine is flawed, but that's what makes her interesting. Nice descriptions, good writing, and an interesting cast of characters.

Loved it

This one took me a little to get hooked, but when I did, it was great. Can't wait to buy to second one. Plot twists were great.

I really enjoyed it!

Rachel Caine was moving to critical care when I started this book. Audible had it in my recommendation list so I looked her up. I'd never encountered her work, somehow, but learning of her battle with cancer just as the election looms and I needed a book for escape, I used a credit on it. The premise is interesting and her knowledge of weather is deep. The action of the story is matched in the weather symbolism and the character development is rich. RC passed away before I finished the book. She has left us a good sized body of work. I salute her!

Very Enjoyable

This was a written story line.. The narrator's voice is a lovely match to the primary character. I look forward to both this narrator's future works and the. next book in the series.
